It's difficult to separate some of this lot in terms of degrees of contempt, but I give as my top 10. Any obvious omissions?

1. Joey Barton
2. Vinnie Jones
3. Jose Bosingwa
4. SWP
5. Taylor Richards
6. Tylor Roberts
7. Leon Jeanne
8. Bob Malcolm (loan)
9. Allesandro Pellicori

In the minority I know but I was pleased when he finally left.

When he first joined us in 1993 he was a genuine young talent and played very well for us improving all the time. By the time Sir Les rocked up to Loftus Road with Newcastle in 1995 he was on fire, playing superbly, the best player on the pitch that day.

He got his first England call up at that time but picked up an injury training with them and after that, in my opinion, never reached that high level of performance again.

After relegation there was endless transfer speculation surrounding him even though his form wasn't great. In 1996 I remember a home night game against Bradford who had 36 year old Chris Waddle playing for them, the best player on the pitch by miles. There was a group of guys shouting out at Sinclair ''Look at Waddle that is how you are supposed to do it!'' I also remember negative articles in AKUTR's at that time.

Dowie, Rowlands and 6 million quid was indeed a lousy deal but it was the best or only deal on the table.

Think it was far less than £6m, rbee. Rumours at the time ranged from £1.5m to £2.5m, plus the two lads.

Sorry, you are right Brian. I saw Clive mentioning 8m and misunderstood.

Google AI says it was 2.3 million plus Dowie and Rowlands.

Terrible list ! Kevin brock I remember annoyed me as he was one of the Oxford signings after that game that was supposed to happen at Wembley. The others from that team as I remember Aldridge, Houghton think that's what annoyed me most is we got the shi te one.

Can’t say I ever despised a Rangers player . Thought one or two were bellends when I was a youth team player another life ago .
Closest would probably be Barton who has been simply unlikeable since he plopped out onto this planet

Yeah, think a purely despised thread would have been Barton and nobody else. I’ve kind of reinterpreted it as a ‘really didn’t like him, what was he ever doing here’ thread but would have been a bit of a mouthful as a title.

Permission to add Steve Slade to the list?

For those who were fortunate enough never to have witnessed him, a forward who averaged a goal every twelve games for us, and as paltry as that sounds, barely managed another goal anywhere else in professional football over the rest of his career.

Quite how he got 70 games out of this club tells you all you need to know about that period in our history.

Him being there at that time and available also meant that Houston pissed about for two months taking it in turns with him and Lee Charles up front with Dichateley because 'he wanted to see what he had', instead of going out and buying John Spencer in September as soon as we knew Gallen was out for the season.

That couple of months I'm convinced cost us if not automatic promotion (Barnsley made it with just 80 points) then certainly at very least play offs given Spencer scored 17 in the league from mid November on.
