Woohoo, Yorkies dispatched.
With their batting line up we needed 200+ and got there with change to spare. Aside from a bit of a lull when Liv and Hurst both got out it was pedal to the metal all the way.
Still, 216 is not scary when you have Lythe, Luxton, Root, Bairstow and Moeen Ali as a top 5.
Enter Mitch Stanley who bowled superbly. Lythe was being his disruptive self when Stanley got him out with one too quick for him. Luxton bowled and Bairstow bagged, he blew them apart.
Loudest moment was Jimmy getting Root, fantastic piece of cricket memorabilia.
Winning the toss certainly helped as Yorkies middle order showed, but finally a great win and still an outside chance of getting to the knockouts |  |

Yes, our Batsman finally showed up as a group last night. I think the bowling has been decent in red and white ball for most of the season, but at times lt is like our tail starts at around number 4 or 5!! Really enjoyed it especially after they mullered us at their place. Didn't think we had a chance of qualifying a couple of weeks ago, but now if Essex loses as DL says it is us or Durham in a straight shoot out. |  | | |

Absolutely brilliant win to secure a home quarter final on Friday. Flintoff with an excellent ton and Aspinwall and Singh contributing with wickets. After a couple of early wickets Somerset were always well behind in the chase. Moores is another good prospect, who is only 17. Hopefully Flintoff and Moores can develop into the mainstay of the middle order for years to come.
A few of the elminated 100 players will come back into contention as well, which will make selection interesting. If the Welsh Fire do not qualify Salt opening would be a bonus. | | | |

Good start from Jennings and Hurst, Bosh running down the wicket early in his innings wasn't clever getting stumped*
Harris ok but Jennings and Flintoff superb (not withstanding Somerset bowlers putting it on a plate)
The home side were never in a position to chase such a total.

It’s just not gone well at all this season for Lancs..that hundred competition seems to strip all counties of their best players so at times it’s as if the county games are secondary fixtures. | | | |

The batting has been two fragile all season. If Jennings and/or Harris did not score heavily there was little contribution elsewhere. Moores and Flintoff have contributed in the Metro Bank competition and look to have good futures but others such as Bell showed initial promise but have not kicked on. Long term injuries to Wells and Singh Dale created two big holes. The decline in Bohannon over the past two seasons has been a real shame. His pacing at three in the 50 over games has left too much to do for the rest of the order in a number of games.
Stanley has progressed but again, how many games will you get out of him during a season? With six games to play and a 36 point deficit it is unlikely that they will be able to catch up and win promotion. Maybe they should play Flintoff, Moores and Shetty in the championship games with an eye on next season? | | | |

They just cannot get any runs on the board. Not sure when the last time they got above 200 in a red ball innings. I know Wells has missed most of the season, but the experienced batsmen have not stepped up, often enough. I am not sure the signing of Charlesworth will solve the issues, especially as he is probably a replacement for Jones, who was signed with a similar lack of pedigree. | | | |

Never finished rock bottom in the history of the county championship, something our friends over the hills cannot claim. Probably won’t this season with Gloucestershire looking odds on for that ‘title’ but it’s a measure of how poor Lancs have been this season. Thats what happens when cricket becomes secondary. | | | |

I have just read that they have not scored a batting bonus point since May. They are an event venue with a cricket club as a painful appendage. It is a massive job to turn the team around. Maybe it is time to get rid of some of the white ball players who hardly every play such as Mahmood, Wood, Salt, Livingstone and Buttler and invest in multi format players who you get value for money from.
