When he has the players to play it Watson can play his high tempo flying wingers but we do not have the athleticism defensively and in central midfield currently to do so. Hopefully this should reduce the space the centre backs need to cover. | | | |

Not even sure it is any better than last week tbh. Moss is getting skinned at RFB and Sherring looks below par for L2.
Mani hasn't had a sniff in 1 and a half games now, and midfield look very pedestrian with the ball.
We need to leave at least one player upfield when defending set plays. It's just coming straight back if we clear it.
And we look sluggish all over compared to them.

The lack of subs when we got it back to 1-1 was baffling. That’s on the manager.
Changing to three at the back saw us more comfortable in our own half with the ball but ahead of that we got it wrong. Watson is learning lessons fast and he has to.
Structure is all important and we are taking one step forward and two steps back. | |

Second half was a bit better and they got a bit of luck when we had a few half chances. The changes needed to be made earlier. If we are playing this formation long term we need to use one of the wide players as one of the 10s. Beckwith and Wilson could play as the wide defenders. Subs made far too late. There seemed to be more urgency after the changes.
Wilson looked good in the Beckwith role in the first half but looked absolutely shattered in the second. That was a tired looking effort to give away the penalty. | | | |

Yes, there were individual player mistakes, the ref was shockingly bad, but every game including friendlies under this manager, we haven't won one game in 90 minutes nor do we look likely to.
A few hopeful glimpses today but precious little else.
Still comparable to Steve Eyre. Disorganised, feeble and managerially inept.
How long must we wait to see something worth watching?
