Seeing the respective teams will be interesting. If they have Scott-Morriss at right back and Delaney and Daniels at centre back I would be looking to play in behind with Brown up front and pace on the left. They will be looking to stress test our box so I would not be suprised if Maguire and Flint start. | | | |

Good start with the goal. Lively move, quick first time cross, little flick and Mossy did well to control it and bang it in. Player of the season so far is Moss.
Smith looking lively but not convinced by him on the right. He got into a great position in the box and seemed twice to choose the wrong option which was heavily influenced by him being unable to go onto his right foot and whip it across. Switch him to the left and see what happens there.
I think Flint is solid - he’s one of those defenders who will track the ball over the top and make sure he gets in the way. Would trust him to get his head on things when there’s a free kick or corner. Not convinced at all he has the ability to distribute it out the back in the way EEL has always looked comfortable. Wilson also seems less than convincing.
But the real liability is Ramming. What the hell he was doing to lose the ball in his own box - only helped out by an atrocious non finish by Fondop.
We have been shooting ourselves in the foot and playing ourselves into trouble. Noticing that quite often we’ll get the ball into midfield and there is no player in space showing as available so the man in possession has no choice but to keep the ball and try to look around and then they get dispossessed. They’ve got to move about more and find some space.
No idea how the second half will go but Oldham will have to fancy getting something. We did at least start well which at least felt like something of an improvement, despite all the other issues. Maybe dropping Mani D is the right move for now. Would be enormous if we can hold on. |  | | |

We were on top then stupid errors at the back put us onto the back foot
Great goal, feared for the worst when Mossy went down injured but seems to be ok

Started off well and used the wide players to get in behind. Then we have lived a charmed life. They are dominating in midfield. Taylor needs to drop deeper and we need to get the ball wide again especially with Hannant and Hayes to come on.

Started off brilliantly playing it on the floor and killing them down the right. Smith always finding space then well worked goal from Moss.
Ramming & Flint having a mare and Fondop missed an open goal. We lost our composure instead of playing it on the floor Ramming is just booting it up in the air ...sorry he needs to go he is a liability and undermining everything earned so far.
Watson needs to have a good half time team talk to regain composure , we started losing all 50-50 balls towards half time.
We need to get back to passing and moving and not getting caught in possession, we can win this ... | | | |

A good start and a well taken goal but let's be honest; they should be at least 1 or 2 goals ahead...mainly due to our keeper; their awful misses and the lack of any spine for us upfront. Brown is not offering anything as a target and being completely bossed by Monthe. They are getting well on top in midfield due to having an extra man there
I hate saying this, but Ramming needs to be dropped.
Hope we can fine tune things in the second half. If we continue as we have, we will surely concede a goal or two.

Massive three points which you have to say owed an awful lot to Oldham’s poor finishing. We dug in though and I think the subs worked well to strengthen things up at the back. Good goal from Brown. Didn’t go into the game feeling optimistic but that is clearly a step in the right direction. | | | |

Have to say the standout in the past few games though has been flint. It’s amazing how sometimes a player joins the club and you just know that are a perfect fit. Flint seems to be a “perfect fit” for Dale. Slotted straight in, commands, communicates and “gets it”. What have we learnt for today, hopefully that we can keep it tight and grind out results.

Ramming is a big concern, his kicking amd the choices he makes when being closed down are a worry, he also doesn't commend his area well enough when he comes out for a catch. Big shift put in and Gilmour was absolutely everywhere Moss is just quality. We do look a bit more physical and aggressive which is nice to see, I thought the whole team looked too soft (nice) last season | | | |

Flint is exactly what we've needed, doesn't need to try to be a playmaker like EEL and once Maguire is match fit he'll be more solid too
Came on for Wilson at the right time, in fact all the subs were well-timed and major contribution to us seeing the game out

Chalk and cheese from Gillingham. Can’t fault the effort or the commitment.
IW got the subs right as well especially Maguire for Wilson as the latter was flagging a bit too. Neat cameo from Tobi too who still has a part to play.
Three sheets from four games too; but for that late goal at Colchester would have been four from five.

Got lucky there. We need a keeper who isn't so sloooowww on the ball. His shot stopping and claiming of the ball was great today but he's a liability with the ball at his feet. I dont know how Oldham failed to score on at least 2 occasions because of him. So lucky to get away with it. |  |

Fans are like that these days. Supporters are fairer and, even when concerned about results and issues, able to try and look at a route forward. Funny thing is, a couple of wins and those same Oldham fans will be saying how they’re winning promotion by Easter again.
Won’t ever be surprised by how reactionary and hypocritical football fans are.
Good win today. Oldham as poor, quality wise, as expected since looking at their squad preseason. Laughable that having EFL experience on and off the pitch was supposedly the reason they were an automatic promotion bet. Dale solid and for the first twenty mins really threatening. Brown had a poor game,but excellent goal, Gilmour back towards his best in midfield and the likes of Moss and Flint good at the back.
It’s a totally different team now (only one starter from Wembley + Moss) and a side that maybe isn’t playing how Watson initially envisaged. But it’s about getting results. 16th is fine. |  |

Had similar thoughts
We still try to play it on the ground but with more intent. The times we overplayed it we conceded possesion in dangerous areas, then went more direct, the ball over the top for our second a good example
I'd like to think that once fit, and providing we're making progress, EEL will have to wait his turn rather than an automatic choice
Given Maguire's history, unlikely he'll see the rest of the season out (once starting) but it'd be interesting to see EEL alongside Flint, an even more experienced CB and how that plays out in terms of leadership [Post edited 19 Sep 15:52]
