The FA finding falls into three parts.
1. Clatts has no case to answer, there was only the testomony of one player whose English aint to grand and Mikel, other players, other officials heard nothing. No need for further clarity there.
2. Chelsea did everything they should have done. One of their players alleged racism, as employers they were duty bound to report it and had they not done and it leaked out later (as these things do) then it would have been ten times worse.
3. Ramires acted in complete faith, was right to say what he thought he had heard, had no malice in reporting it and is an upstanding individual.
The only person therefore at fault is Mikel who was told that he had been called a monkey and had stormed into the refs dressing room to have it out. I'm pretty sure that he will be leniently treated given the extenuating circumstances and in the end there will be little or no action about this whole case other than for refs conversations to be recorded in the future in a self-defence stylee.
Which is good, well, it's good if you work for the FA who like peace, quiet and no controvertial issues such as race to surface.

much of the furore seems to me to stem from the difficulty to separate this from the John Terry issue. Taken on its own merits, then yes Chelsea did the right thing acting on a concern from an employee. But, and maybe its the tabloid mentality in me, it reeked of a tit for tat action against a referee who had the temerity to send two players off and an FA who had the cheek to punish a Chelsea player cleared in a court of law. It didn't come across as Chelsea raising a concern lodged by one of their players, but rather a club hiring QC's to pursue this action on what those lawyers must have told them it was the flimsiest of evidence. | | | |

That's my take on it too, however the FA seem to have been at pains to paint it otherwise, avoidance of controversy being the prime motive.
Chelsea recently are like a player who boots the ball out for a throw in with no opposition player in sight yet he still appeals for the throw in. It's an automatic self defence thing, so programmed into them is the fact that the whole world is against them. | |
