The more I look at it, the more annoying it is all three options had black sodding sleeves. Not that it wouldn't have worked on one option (the third, let down by the collar and the positioning of the badge and Fila logo - if they got that right, it would have won), but black sleeves on all three? If people don't understand why, it's probably indicates they don't fully 'get it' with kits. |
The more I look at them the more frustrating it is.
The second home shirt is horrendous. When people say the one we chose looks like a Fila shirt from a sports shop that's just had our badge put on it, they're kind of right, but the second one looks like a random shirt from a random sports shop that isn't even a make of Fila. It reminds me of the shirts we used to get given to play for the college team that were about 20 years old and made by Prostar or someone equally poor. Those white pinstripes over the arms and the horrendous collar just make it so bad - and same goes for the away kit. I'm not a massive fan of yellow kits anyway but the big collar and stupid blue flecks means it looks like the shirts we refused to play for the college team in...
The first away kit clashes even with our home kit (but to be fair, could probably have been used more than the white one, as most teams we will have to wear a change kit against will be playing in blue. At least we'd be able to use the black one against teams in blue and white). The third home kit has another stupid collar and there's a reason so few teams go for the design with just 2 stripes down the middle - it looks crap.
The (home) one that was chosen is by far the nicest looking shirt. Except what we've been served up as an horrendous bright red logo and the badge is to the side making it look uneven and cheap.

There's only so many times you can bring out a striped shirt that's not exactly the same as the last one! If I was to tweak it I would lose the blue panelling at the sides and make the sponsor logo a bit more complimentary to the shirt.
I posted these on here about 3 years ago, still would like to see an away kit like this.
Also looking back it looks like Nike stole my idea of a gradient kit and used my design for Barcelona's away kit last year!

Thanks 442 Dale. I stand corrected, the winning kit that we are all now slating was one of the original choices. I must have surpressed it from my memory so bad was it! I voted for option 2 home and away. I remembered the Inter stripes and didn't remember that Option 1 was a trashed version of it.
But as we all (well nearly all) apparantly hate it, the question must be asked, how did it get so many votes? Obviously not from posters on this board. Perhaps someone liked it so much, they voted a hundred times. |

The adidas/Nike teamwear argument has been had before and a club at our level will always benefit in terms of sales of shirts and other merchandise. Whether this works out better in terms of the overall deal is a question that needs asking at a forum. If you find a decent teamwear option, it might be used by other clubs but with our colourscheme it doesn't matter.

Have just seen the away kit being worn by someone in town. The reverse of shirt sponsor is Carbrini and is at the top of the shirt in letters big enough that it looks like a player's name.

I cannot find the new kits on the online Club shop, but going off last years shirts then seem to be £39.99 for an adult. When you add on the rip off £7 delivery fee that is £47 quid.
The new jersey is £40 on JD Sports, but that website has free delivery.

Why on earth do we continue to rip off supporters with overpriced delivery charges. Anyone spending over £20 should get free shipping to the UK and orders below £20 shouldn't be more than £2 delivery.

It's a valid point about the stripes and that's why it should always be offered as one of the options - fans will then decide if they want a change. And as thus thread illustrates (literally), there is plenty you can do with stripes.
The club shop doesn't have the new kit available online after the OS publicised they've arrived early? Really?

I love those Adidas shirts it just looks so professional, but even that would look awful with the aforementioned Crown Oil plastered over it. The club does not want the fans help either way, and i would imagine that their hands are tied by the shirt manufacturer, in that they dictate all the designs. A fans competition to design at least one of a seasons kits could be run in good time to send to the designers i am sure though, and would give the fans a chance to have a proper say.

Crown Oil have kindly allowed their logo to be changed to white to compliment the colour of the Rochdale shirt which has created goodwill between the company and the fans. Fila have also listened and removed the massive sleeve logos. The club have taken on board feedback and gone with a predominantly striped shirt but with blue arms instead of black and we are sure this shirt will prove popular with fans.

Great shirt. Lot to be said for stripes continuing on the back of a shirt.
Never understand why kit companies insist on plain back when the two stripe colours are dark and the numbers will be white anyway. Nike were the same. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]
