Even with my Forest hat on, literally, it was a great game. Sometimes you just have to sit there and enjoy it, win, lose or draw. Let the analysts get negative about the negatives. Never seen a Dale 5-5 and not sure if there's been one. Fives - seen 5-0 (a few), 5-1 (a few), 5-2 (Hereford), 5-3 (Halifax) and 5-4 (York) Sixes - seen 6-0 (Carlisle), 6-1 (Spurs), 6-2 (Northampton) Sevens - seen 7-0 (Liverpool), 7-1 (Lincoln), 7-2 (Stockport)

My dad told me about a game at Spotland, probably early 1930s, when Dale were 0-5 down at half time but came back to win 6-5 (or it may have been 5-4, memory and all that) Apparently the weather conditions were such that kicking one way conferred a huge advantage - a bit like the first half at Carlisle in the FL Trophy game

I think he's getting his wires crossed somewhere, as we've never won 6-5, nor have we ever been 5-0 down at half-time in a home game (or, as far as I can see, an away game as well, but there may be one in the old days). There were two 5-4 wins in 1930; one at home to Wrexham on 1st Feb and one at home to Nelson on 30th Aug. However, I haven't any details of how the scoring went. [Post edited 29 Nov 2018 19:18]

There's never been a 5-5, as you say, but there has been six 4-4 draws, the last at Colchester in November 1992.

It sounded like a cracking game,5-5,two goals disallowed,Forest get a man sent off at 5-4 and then score, and to end football right to the final seconds Bart,I've honestly got no idea if you support Forest with a soft spot for Rochdale or support Rochdale with a soft spot for Forest?

More likely it was the 5-4 on 1 Feb 1930 then, he mentioned wintry conditions

I get that, about softening the blow. Probably why I have an affinity with the All Blacks. The recent weekend 17th/18th November was severely depressing.

There's a possibility that this season both Forest and Mansfield could get promoted and Notts get relegated from the football league, this would be my darkest of dark days should it happen
