All great reads. And this last one really does highlight how things went so right in Hillcroft’s early days and makes us wonder how it ever got to those painful last two years of Hills reign.
Anyway, all water under’t bridge now but fascinating period in the club’s history. |  | | |

Another interesting read, thanks Fitz.
What interests me here is that at a young age Buckley was already of the mindset that he had to be enjoying playing, otherwise his heart wasn’t really in it. That makes me wonder if that was the reason his career stalled on occasions.
I am not knocking him for that, but football is a game where confidence means so much. Not like my game of project management were you just stuck to the disciplines and your performance was not really impacted by whether you enjoyed that particular project or not.
Still have fond memories of him terrorising that tw-t Saunders at Dagenham to the extent that he ended up being sent of. The shouts of “go on skin him Will” made for some great moments in a great season. | | | |
