Of all the errors made recently in team selection/formation, surely the most glaring must be the failure to recognise the stability brought to our whole performance when we played with a back three against Peterborough, the last game i can recall enjoy watching
Hilly referred to it afterwards as a kind of emergency measure, which I suspect caused many of us to groan silently, given the way the team performed comfortably and with real attacking threat
What's more, we've got the personnel to do it
McGahey Daniels McNulty/Nthle (or even Canavan) plus Keane
Out wide, Done/Bunney and Rafferty/Cannon
So many options, so peremptorily discarded. And if we're not in an emergency now, how much lower do we need to sink before trying something which worked, over an extended run of games this time? |  |

I'm not sure. We played it in the first half of the next league game at Bradford though, that game of many goals. We looked great going forwards but very poor at the back. To be fair though, we aren't playing sides of Bradford's quality every week. It just beggars belief that the formation hasn't been tried since then. |  | | |

Although I agree the formation should be tried again purely because it worked! Taking Rafferty and Bunney out of that X1 weakens it massively. |  |

As I’ve said in other posts he used the Peterborough game to come out and sort of say “in your face” to all of his critics and people slagging his team selections and formations off and binned the idea of playing three at the back off straight away. I say go for it. |  | | |
