There's just been a report on Granada news, featuring a dad & lad who'd put their spare cash into this; in the case of the lad (aged about 8), his pocket money

Child abuse, if you ask me. The cause itself might be worthy, if it helps Wigan become a community-run outfit, but players taking £X,000s per week in wages on the back of a poor lad's pocket money?

Have they got any players left? I wonder if they will actually start the season. If they do, I reckon they are more nailed on for relegation than us

I read somewhere that 14 had already departed. Another one gone today in Lowe to Swansea.

The bottom team could be sorted before a ball is kicked.

They stuffed Bolton Wanderers 3-1 in a friendly the other day with players like Callum McManaman and Kai Naismith in the team .

Surely the EFL should stop them beginning the season, they can’t have provided proof that they can raise a team, and guarantee that they have the funds to sustain a team throughout the season

Time for the EFL to grow a pair and start re writing the rule book.

Its bloody pathetic that Wigan remain in league 1 only having to overcome a very lenient penalty.

They should have dropped into League 2 - tougher sentencing will stop the reckless gambles using football clubs as fronts.

Unfortunately I don't think it will as owners like Stewart Day for example aren't too bothered about the club's future after they're gone. What happens next won't act as a deterrent for that type of owner.

Tangled up in blue.

Its not over yet for them.

As of last week they hadn't paid the players that left the club over summer and if they don't they could have further points deducted.

They have missed the deadline for a bidder to formalise an offer and so there is no guarantee that they will last the season. The FL must be convinced they have enough cash to start it.......but remember they didn't allow bury to carry on unless they could show they had enough for the whole season

More twists and turns to come.

2 of those are goalkeepers. They had a young forward called Lang who they seemed to think was a decent prospect, is he still there? Dont think he played in the 1st team but did OK at Oldham and Morecambe on loan. They also have a left back
Pearce who they signed from Leeds. Sounds as if the administrators are keen to get the players off the books asap too.

Callum Lang is on loan at Motherwell.

i know and agree...

but some self governance and a reluctance to gamble might help.

Bolton Bury Wigan and throw Oldham in the mix.

3 basket case clubs and in burys case an all but extinct one all in the North West!!

They would recall him if we offered any sort of a fee for him. The administrators have a duty to consider every cash offer for saleable goods and chattels. In Wigans case they need to get everyone off the books asap. A £50k cash offer for the two I mentioned looks like a good offer to the admins and the two players if we can agree terms. As Warren Buffett said " buy when others are fearful".

Their two best players from this meagre list, Sam Morsy and Nathan Byrne, have just departed too. I can definitely see them plummeting straight through to League Two at this rate.

EFL have given them permission to start the season.

Is this going to be like Bolton last season where they have to play kids and get beat 5/6-0 in the first few games? Absolute joke.

Even funnier John Sheridan set to be named manager

And Easter starts off badly, but he gets a decent break in the middle, though he does have to go back to work on a Bank Holiday.
