It would be brilliant if that cropped up on video somewhere. I have a few games from that season, but not that one, unfortunately.

Stats Magic - Rochdale v Doncaster Rovers on 23:41 - Apr 30 with 756 views | pioneer | Old timers on here will remember 1969 easter monday.. Docaster top of div 4 and dale on a 14 game unbeaten streak since before Xmas having reached the top four. Over 12,500 at the game, the biggest spotland crowd since 1957.Although we have had bigger attendences for cup games since I am not sure whether we have had more for a league game (over to you TVOS) Game ended scoreless but we certainly gave eventual champions Doncaster a hard game. Unbeaten run ended the following day (yes we played back to back games at Easter in those days) when we lost 2-1 at Chester. wonderful memories of thatday. Even got my old man to go to the game...his first trip to spotland for over 10 years.

Could be wrong, but weren't there 13000 at the Halifax game (1-0, Dennis Butler) just a few weeks later, on the Monday evening?

Three games over the Easter weekend in those days. We’d already beaten York City on the Saturday.

When looking up the previous post, noticed we played nine games in April.

Stats Magic - Rochdale v Doncaster Rovers on 12:34 - May 1 with 529 views | todmordendale | Those were the days eh ? 3 games in 4 days over Easter and players playing on like Bert Troutman with a broken neck, Harry Gregg with a broken collar bone and Stuart Pearce with a fractured leg. And a Wigan player whose name escapes me scored the winner with a broken leg to gain promotion. Powder puff of today on the moan if they play 2 games in a week. C’mon the Dale

I think you might be confusing the Wigan scenario with their former owner allegedly breaking his leg in the FA Cup Final...

As 442 says, we had 12,806 for the Halifax game which was a few weeks after Doncaster. The largest home league attendance since then is 10,926 v Oldham in September 1971. We have, however, had 13,879 (v Oldham, FA Cup, Nov 1970) and 13,011 (v Coventry, FA Cup, Jan 1971) as larger attendances than all the aforementioned since April 1969.
