This was down to losing the academy status when we got relegated. We are unable to sign him on academy terms as it was a minimum of a two year deal and we couldn’t guarantee having an academy for that length of time so had to let him go.
It was explained at a forum a while back as I recall.
I still think we got some financial settlement but nothing like we would have got. This was a direct result of us getting relegated to the non league. | | | |
