Knowing our luck this season he'd definitely be injured had he come here. There's a chance Salford didn't want him coming to a League 2 rival though.

Not on loan, they didn’t. For a fee, however…

His exploits at Boreham Wood will have pushed the asking price, and interest, higher, I would imagine.

Presumably Salford would be looking to recover some of the largish fee that they paid Exeter for Bird.
And, no disrespect to the player, scoring chances will be there for him in abundance the way that Boreham Wood are playing at the moment.

Both Rodney and Dieseruvwe staying probably tied our hands regarding signing Bird for a fee.

Plus the fact that we’ve already paid fees for Jenkins, Hayes and Middleton.

TBF as good a player as Bird was for us, I would've been reluctant to sign him (regardless of whether a fee would've been involved or not) given his injury record previously and the state of our squad at the time. I think a injury-free season for Boreham Wood would raise his value more than any goal scoring antics would.

Good to see Boreham Wood doing well. Agree with others that Garrard seems a very good manager.

I was at the game, he also went through in the second half one and one against the Kidderminster goalkeeper and was fouled in the box. He was on a hatrick and so I was surprised he wasn’t given the opportunity to take the penalty, which was missed anyway.
