That we got nothing from the game today. I wont blame the ref for anything. Campbell Ryce was their best player by miles but with no end productof note but that goal he scored was such a crap cross it was untrue. The jammy jammy gits

Up The Dale!!

We suggested that's only ever happened in Sheffield. Probably wrong, but can't think of it happening elsewhere

I've sat and watched from an upper tier at Brentford and Hereford - does that count?

Good calls. Suppose it depends how it's defined. The Sheffield clubs and Wrexham were in ends which had standing below the upper tier which then become seated. Brentford and Hereford haven't done that with the terraces being under the stands.

If we're going for stands above paddocks, we could also count Carlisle when they stuck us in their main stand in '97.

Tierage in its purest sense needs an upper seated area and a lower seated area. It cannot be a mixture of seats/standing.

A few years ago, Dale lost 3-2 at Carlisle and we were in the top corner of the main stand. This may have been the upper tier of two tiers of seats as this photo suggests:

Actually this picture indicates its some sort of primitive exec box contraption between the paddock and the seats. Third tier?...

Dale, pure class, lose, blame it on the ref.

... which about half-a-dozen people, at most, on here have done, although they haven't actually apportioned blame.

It would have had a 15 page thread elsewhere.

I recall sitting in seats above seats at Cardiff once, when Mark Carter was scoring penalties, but we still lost.

Seem to remember being both upper and lower tier that day in Bradford. Bending the rules slightly but had you "sat" in dales old main stand you would have been again over a paddock in the upper tier?

Didn't blame the loss on the ref. Just made a comment that he was terrible. Don't mind players being booked for poor challenges but it has to go both ways. The loss was a deflected cross / shot

Often say that the worst descisions prove to be the best decisions by the ref, so can't comment on the the late free kick and corner, but there were still a number of odd decisions by the ref. He'd played advantage all game, so couldn't believe he didn't allow that one. If a side can fashion a shot on goal from the advantage, you cannot get a better example of letting the game go on.

Cannot remember a game which has less than four minutes injury time these days. So for a half that had five subs, one goal, a protracted celebration and other hold ups, it seemed incredulous that it was only three minutes.

Wasn't surprised Hilly kept his distance from him at the final whistle.

Proud to be a Dale fa yesterday.

Enjoyed the game. In a sum up Dale more than matched the blades.

Dale looked a good league one side.

On the day the blades had the stand out player on the pitch in Campbell-Ryce. He gave a master class in wing play.

To be honest Done apart we look a little short of a player with blistering pace.

Would have liked to see Hery or Fenelon around 60 minutes think the extra pace could have unlocked the blades defence.

Fine lines - oh for an inch lower from Hendos fantastic strike onto the crossbar!!

It is a tough league is league 1, unforgiving. I see Walsall had a good win yesterday. We will need to be equally up for it for the remaining 39 league games this season.

It must be symptomatic of how far we've come that the day after a narrow, unlucky defeat against a recent premiership club in front of almost 20,000, and the main topic of debate is where we were seated!

A far cry from our last visit to Bramhall Lane, a thoroughly depressing 3-0 capitulation.

We need a couple of decent home results now. Four points from Walsall and Coventry will do me.

The decision to award Sheff U a corner at the end summed up the ref. The linesman, who was stood within a yard of the action gave a goal kick, and the ref overruled him from 30 yards away. How could he possibly have a better view?

However, he wasn't a determining factor in the defeat. Sometimes it just isn't your day, here's hoping the football gods decide it's our turn for some luck on Tuesday.

Possession with progression.
