How did he get on today? JFH seems to be excited about getting him in the side

I think Konchesky's done exactly what was asked of him. He's been fit and ready to play every week, and whether he's past his best of not is besides the point (and he is), he's offered value to us in that sense and at a time when we were short of players for various reasons and needed a stopgap replacement with experience.

He has been treated harshly by some supporters. There's a difference between not being good enough and being a poor professional, but he's been nothing but a model pro here and at times this season he's actually looked fitter than a lot of the younger players and always given 100%. I think he's been professional enough to maintain his standards in terms of how he prepares and looks after himself and you'd hope that kind of dedication is something some of those younger than him can look up to and learn from.

Now, as players like Robinson are returning, it's only natural that Konchesky is being phased out, but we had Yun and Robinson injured at the start of the campaign, and Kwepkwa needs more experience as well before being ready and expected to play a 46 game campaign.

I doubt anyone has any issue with Koncheskey. He's come in and done his job, albeit desperately poorly.

The signing of Koncheskey however....an utter disgrace and typical of the 'old' QPR we were promised was gone.

Too damn reasonable, Neil. Just too damn reasonable.

I don't think it was a disgrace or remotely comparable to some of our signings in recent years.

You can make a case and say it was a little bit rushed and perhaps there was an element of panic attached to it, because it was a loan signing towards the end of the window. They did want as many players in as soon as possible so they could work together in pre-season, but perhaps a mixture of injuries and not getting their targets changed the course of action and requirements.

But that tells its own story. The old QPR would have bought somebody outright, perhaps even Konchesky. And the old QPR would have paid a lot of money to do that.

I had a chat recently with somebody who outlined what was most impressive with Les Ferdinand's approach to transfers and signings this summer, and I couldn't agree more, are not the actual signings themselves. It's the players we haven't signed, or the deals we've walked away from or not got involved with. Whenever we've not been sure or been suspicious about something — we've pretty much walked away from the table. That says a lot.

The idea last summer was to go for an experienced backline. We had a lot of new players coming in who were unproven, either because they were young or hadn't played in the Championship before, so having an experienced defence was a strategy to try and help them settle. And not to mention it was a big season for Chris Ramsey too, so he would have been hoping he could rely on that experience to help him through. It didn't quite work out in that manner, but it was a perfectly sensible and reasonable approach and plan.

Actually signing Konchesky might have made some sense. An experienced defender, on a free transfer and likely on a semi-sensible last contract.

Instead we loaned in a 34 year old Lb on mega money.

As said, a complete and utter disgrace, and even more so when you see the otherwise sensible and good business done by those in charge.

yeh Konchesky looks like a bit of a panic when they realised Robinson, Yun etc weren't going to be available for the first month. Plus they obviously didn't want to use Yun anyway. As it turns out, should have just picked Perch there and muddled through.

Like the look of Robinson. Obviously rusty, bit wild, got skinned a couple of times, but decent performance. And he has a proper long throw - not a Fitz Hall long throw.

Do you know the terms of the loan? Did we pay a loan fee and all his wages?

It wasn't a disgrace, we didn't have a fit experienced left back. Konchesky did a job for us, reasonably well on occasions. Unfortunately, as the season went on he got targeted as a 'weakness', his confidence dropped and his form completely deserted him.

He always seemed to give 100% and never disgraced himself or the club.

If we had moved Perch there, then we didn't have a fit experienced right back and we would have ended up with Ned there even more.

I think Lytham R called it right.

Yeah he did get skinned a couple of times by their very tricky No 11 but hey; after so long out of action for a young pup, it was good to see him play as well as he did on his debut. Dodgy barnet aside, there were times when he reminded me of Mark Dennis.

Let's hope he can get a good run of games in, a solid pre-season and avoid any more injuries, because he does look decent.

A potentially great signing by, err, umm....Harry

That throw used early and late in games could be a great weapon next season. That first one to Hoilett was over 50 yards!

Never knowingly right.
