Shortest QPR playing career 19:15 - Jan 3 with 6936 viewsenfieldargh

Listening to a pod cast where Jason Crowe apparently came on as a sub and within 30 seconds receives a Red card and is never selected again so pretty short Arsenal career.

I'm trying to think of any QPR players who made their first team debut and that was pretty much it.

Did Tom Hitchcock come on in the final few minutes, score the winner and never play for us again?

Alan Brazil was another, must be loads more but must have had to make an official appearance

captains fantastic

I saw him play for us at the Dell against Southampton, never saw him again
Brett Angell was with us for a short space of time and then I believe he was player/coach at my local club down here (Hungerford Town) who are currently bloody useless.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

A few understudy goalkeepers made just one appearance.

Peter Hucker's number 2 Graham Benstead. I think Hucker got injured and Benstead played his one and only QPR game away at West Brom in the FA Cup January 1983. We lost 3-2 in the third round (surprise surprise).

Andy Pape, another goalkeeper played just the one game away at Charlton right at the end of the 1979/80 season.

There must be more goalkeepers but that's the two off the top of my head I can think of.

EDIT: Bankole? I'm pretty sure he didn't play more than that nightmarish half hour against Tranmere when Harper got injured?

Kurt Bakholt has to be the gold standard here.

Pape and Benstead are good shouts though, TBH I never knew either of them got a 1st team start, though their names seemed to be in the programme as squad members (back when the squad was 25-30 players) for years.

Yes, Ademole Bankole (known as George) came on a free from Crewe Alex in 1998 and returned to them for the same 'fee' in 2001. Only played the one game as a sub at home to Tranmere in October 1999 and was unbelievably bad. What was more unlikely was that we won the game 2-1 and I think he kept a clean sheet for the little time he was on the pitch.

I met him in 2000 at his day job as a used car salesman in Walthamstow. He was crap at that too.

Talking of goal keepers, we bought Nick Culkin from Man Utd around 2001 or 2002 and his claim to fame was that he held/holds the record for the shortest playing career at Old Trafford. During his one appearance as a sub, he apparently came on in added time and took a goal kick. He was on the pitch for around 10 seconds.

This reminds me of a game we played when on tour in Asia called 'Pointless QPR'.

Aim was to, from memory, name players who since 2000 have been named in a match day squad but played less than five times.

Keep the temples and Kathoeys, this provided hours of fun and lead to quotes such as 'I see your Bob Taylor and I raise you Keith Lowe' Keith Lowe?? .....frantic Google.... 'effing 'ell!

We eventually assembled a squad that would have struggled to beat a team full of Boswingas and lead to the knowledge that Christer Warren was virtually at testimonial status in this game with a whopping 32 appearances.

Some great ones have already been mentioned here.

You've got some bangers here. Andy Taylor was the Taylor at Leeds. Currently at Oldham.

James Coppinger, him who has scored for 14 seasons in a row at Doncaster fame, is one that gets people.

Reading away. I was there.

Egutu Oliseh couldn’t have played more than three or four.

There was that random team Holloway put out for a game at Leeds as some sort of mad protest.

De ornelas played the first half at Notts County then disappeared. It was the early stages of Ollie making weird decisions.

Bloody hell, was it really just part of one game?

I can only say that it took several years off my life.

(The Walthamstow story is suitably bizarre - did you recognise him, or was he wearing a name-badge?)
