Summer Transfers 10:49 - May 30 with 134919 viewsderbyhoop

There's always lots of speculation, 90% generated by agents. Might be good to have 1 thread.

I don't understand the speculation that has linked us with Adam Matthews from Sunderland, Adam Maher from AZ Alkmaar and Liam Kelly from Livingstone.
Matthews is a RB where we have Furlong, Rangel and Kakay
Maher is a midfielder where, even if Freeman goes, we're not short of options.
Kelly is a keeper. We have Lumley, Ingram and Dieng, unless the latter goes to Glasgow Rangers.

Josh Bowler gone to Hull on a season long loan.

I guess we’ll get to see how good he is.

Would be interesting to see if we went in for him

Asking for Hugill again. Scouting network working overtime far and wide.

It seems an obvious choice and he's proven at this level, but with competition comes increased fees, and we're likely unable to compete with that.

I was reading some northern newspaper website, Wigan had agreed a £3.6 million switch with Hugill a couple of days ago but his £40k p/w (really??) wages were a stumbling block. Feels like if somebody elses wants him, they'll have a better chance of getting him.

so there's at least one signing tomorrow then? I hope it's not Judge, fairly sure he's injury prone.

Looks like we're possibly loaning Paul Smyth out to Wycombe?

Would possibly explain why we haven't seen him.

If Warburton has a bad start to the season people will be wanting Ainsworth to come from Wycombe to the r's maybe he can bring Smyth back?

A few assumptions there.
1. Smyth goes to Wycombe.
2. We make a bad start.
3. We sack Warbs.
4. We appoint Ainsworth.
5. He is able to bring him back.

Other than that, I don't see why not.

Just trying my Nostradamus predictions though having followed the r's since the 1980s anything can happen on and off the pitch.

Ajayi, the CB at Rotherham that went from the worst player at Loftus Road to the best in the space of 2 seasons, has agreed a 1.5m fee with WBA. Looks a good move for everyone there, good young player.

Michael Morrison a good signing by one of our relegation competitors, Reading.

Sheffield United have just bought a striker off Bournemouth for £10m. The latter bought him for £5.7m in 2016 and in the intervening three years, he’d mustered five goals in 71 appearances.

Now I don’t the bloke and this move might be the making of him, but clearly ten-mill doesn’t buy many goals. No pressure on Warby then.

You are mental sometimes mate. We can't even muster more than £250k to prise a busted up Alan Judge off relegated Ipswich. Knockaert isn't a blown budget for us, he's in a different stratosphere.

Anyway, a lot of activity around ours this week, including potentially a surprise outgoer...

Apologies.

Sometimes I forget this forum requires well based, level and thought out points of view at all times.

I'll keep my dreams to myself.

This week I'll be mostly be musing "why weren't we in for Gareth Bale..."

Knowing this poxy club it’ll be Furlong.

Clive knows something.

If one were to speculate it could be BFG or Furlong given their absence from the last few games. If it were the latter, cue meltdown.

Edit if it were either cue meltdown

Edit Cue meltdown anyway.

Well, on the one hand, we’re supposed to be developing players, so selling Furlong, if it is him, would be good in that respect. But, if we do the usual, and give him away for buttons then they’ll be some unhappy people. With the club’s track record i’m not overly confident.
