I think he could lose, he should lose. I think a lot of MP's will vote against him but many of them weren't brave enough to go public with their opinion in case it affected their careers. Exactly, Boris is about as Tory as Blair was a Labour man. He has survived his vote of confidence but he stats are bad. Worse than many other Tory PM's who were gone by the next election.

It's nothing to do with brexit. By not dumping them they have thrown the next GE wide open and if Starmer is forced to fall on his sword we'll see a very interesting election, new faces may be possible in a lot of seats if people lose faith in the big 2.
Now is the time for the other parties to start pushing for change, for a strengthening and tightening of the rules, make a big thing about decency and honesty, give Labour and Tory a good kicking and we may see change. | | | |

I get what you’re saying but just because the referendum an GE was won, that doesn’t mean the government stop working for those who didn’t support them.
A government has to work for the whole country.
Referendums can prove difficult as the binary choice removes all nuance.

The next election is in the bag for the tories with or without Boris. All this sleaze, all this scandal, lies, lawbreaking and unadulterated incompetence and yet labour aren’t really making any traction. They should be way out ahead. I thought Corbyn was bad but Starmer is even more impotent.

Seems Lord Geidt the PM’s Standards advisor isn’t backing him and has now quit which is a damning indictment of Boris Johnson. He’s the second one to quit in the last 3 years.
I’d have though it must be pretty bad if an establishment figure like Lord Geidt has thought it necessary to quit. Geidt was selected for the post on Boris’s watch (probably by Boris himself), he’s a former diplomat, senior official in the Queen’s entourage and an establishment type character. His departure follows that of John Penrose the anti corruption last week. I suppose it doesn’t help that Boris has introduced a ministerial code of conduct which doesn’t include a number of the key recommendations the review recommended.
Something is seriously not right in the hart of government. If our politicians bevone unaccountable we’ll end up like Putin’s Russia, or places like Zimbabwe. | | | |
