Ahead of the 4th Rd of the FA Trophy (hopefully) on Saturday, Stockton Town started the New Year with a 0-2 win at Whitby Town in front of a crowd of 826. Now 7th in NPL Premier League.
I think that with our fans starved of live footie over Christmas period we should get a decent turnout.
Suspect the decision to close the Sandy will remain. Just hope our super groundstaff can still get the game on. |  | | |  |

The weather on Thursday has been fine and bright (chilly and frosty yes).
I assume the frost covers have been laid down ready for what looks like a cold possibly snowy Friday?. Then Saturday looks like a winters day nothing really out of the ordinary.

Stockton have got the 3rd highest avarage attendance in the league with an avarage of 905 fans which is very impressive for the level, only Macc and FC United have better. I see they've sold the majority of their allocation as well with about a hundred and odd tickets left as of today. Stockton fans are usually a friendly bunch but I do recall their play off match with Marske United 2 seaons ago having to be stopped due to trouble in the stands. With the sandy being shut I imagine the yoof will go in the pearl street to get as close to the Stockton fans as possible but hopefully the banter will be friendly and the game will go by without any trouble |  | | |

Looking at the latest weather forecast we might escape the worst of the weather so there’s a chance the game may go ahead.
It’s all a far cry from five years ago this weekend when Dale played Newcastle United at home in the third round of the FA Cup and the ground was virtually full.
Five years later and we haven’t, for a variety of reasons, sold 300 tickets for the visit of another northeastern club in a different cup competition. | | | |

In 24 hours time people will be popping on there jackets, hats and scarves and setting out to Spotland (or not).
The forecast is not that bad between now and 5pm Saturday so with a plan and some will there is every chance of a game. | | | |
