FA Trophy semi on 17:14 - Apr 5 by DaleFan7 | Tactical masterclass by the manager again. How many times are we going to be in the lead and not see the game out. No excuse for what we've seen today. Fair play to Spennymoor. They came to do one thing. Did it and have their day at Wembley. |
We continued to attack after going 2-1 up. They didn’t prevent or defend into the box. Are we now expecting McNulty to come on and head the ball away? Gutted after that. Played well second half after a really poor first half and should have seen the result out. Well done to Spennymoor, what went on after the final whistle was not what we are as a football club.

FA Trophy semi on 17:28 - Apr 5 with 2710 views | SJE_Dale | Completely embarrassing to lose that - part timers - for the first time in what feels like forever we had a full house and completely under delivered. If the Ogden's are serious about Dale being serious the talk needs to be less about 'community' and actually setting this side up to win. Add Spennymoor to the list of embarrassments ffs

Why do you think we had a poor first half? I wouldn’t expect the manager to head a clearance in the final minute, that would be silly. He isn’t allowed on the pitch. I did expect him to fire the team up, come out all guns blazing. Instead, as the excellent Tees radio commentary team said, we were very predictable trying to pick out the two midfielders playing a high line. This against a team a league below us, we were very lucky not to be a goal down in the first half. Scored in the second, but held onto the lead for approximately 1 minute and took the lead from a dubious sounding penalty. The way we started the game was down to Jim McNulty. I expected better. Simply, he has to do something he hasn’t done yet in his managerial career - win matches consistently.

And if we defended a last minute cross properly none of that would have been said. Did he “fire” them up to come out attacking in the second half to the point we scored twice and could have scored others? Doesnt he deserve credit for that? I’ve noted the first half, did Tees Radio note the second? The penalty was nailed on and at no stage were we hanging on. Those are the facts of today. But we’ve been here every time after a bad result.

There's no "luck" attached to being unable to hold onto a lead, its boringly predictable and is very much guaranteed with the current manager in charge, this defeat hurts a lot, even more than games like the loss to FC United, the prize was MASSIVE yet we're once again presented with a car driving around with the handbrake firmly pulled up.

There are more important things than football. Not saying others shouldn’t vent their spleen if that what they need to do. Onto Wednesday, with games running out for teams for the teams around us. Time for the players to get rid of their frustration and deliver some points. UTD

I understand your challenge 442 but why did we bother putting Allarakhia on the pitch in the first half. For 45 minutes he stood on his own on the wing and nothing went to him. And Jim stood and watched. They player was demoralised.

I think this gets to the heart of it. It’s not just losing an important game - it’s that it comes on the back of several years of disappointments and having the club let the fans down. No-one has any goodwill left in the bank. It’s not too much to have asked we could beat a part time team from the division below in order to see us play at Wembley. The manner in which it happened was utterly predictable. This is McNulty all over - no fire, no grit or determination. Folds when pressure is applied. Not sure how anyone can be defending him after that.
FA Trophy semi on 17:52 - Apr 5 with 2092 views | DaleFan7 | The last time we took a 1-0 lead into the final 10 mins and held on was against Worthing in February. The time before that was Leamington in in December. It's no coincidence or surprise that we've failed to do so again.

Same as at Maidenhead, he was on the wing pleading for the ball most of the first half. Cut a frustrated player. Suspect he’ll head back south after the season ends.

Had the ref played advantage in that last minute, who knows, there's always an element of luck in a one off game.

All the first half, not to mention far too many games all season we've let whistle passed us, not taking games to massively inferior opposition far too many times, leaving our best forward sat on the bench for far too many times this season, you need any more "indications" ? Your loyalty to JM is admirable yet very much misguided, keep trying to defend him though by all means, the current team very much mirrors the guy sat in the dugout.

Agreed, first half was poor and the way we didn’t use Allarakhia was a noticeable example of this. The reason we lost was because we couldn’t see out a game again. On Tuesday it was apparently because we didn’t press for a second. Today we carried on attacking and still couldn’t defend a simple situation properly. Is that on the manager? Ultimately yes. But there is no consistent issue about being too defensive or not looking to attack. It’s just rank bad game management by all concerned.

If your aunty had balls she'd be your uncle.....you can't blame the ref or even"luck" for failing to beat the lowest ranked part time team in the competition at home, its piss poor and absolutely zero to do with "luck"

I’m not loyal to him. I point out all of his faults, please read all the posts. But today was a collective failing to defend a cross in a game that was as good as won. And my question was about today, especially the second half, how were we playing with the handbrake on? [Post edited 5 Apr 17:59]

We didn't close the cross and probably the keeper could have done better. Akinye had a good effort the phase of play before. We cannot manage the game with a one goal lead.
