Although he's actually from the Ivory Coast, where it's a clan name apparently meaning/connoting 'leopard' or 'hunter'.

One of my neighbours once worked for a company who organised those those "custom killings." He had an anecdote regarding a client who paid his $10,000 in advance to shoot a leopard. Unfortunately when he arrived there were no live leopards in the vicinity. But the company did have a frozen one. Without telling the "hunter" they decided to use it instead. The difficulty was getting the rigid leopard up a tree and into a position that looked authentic. They finally managed — mainly because it had started to thaw out in the heat. The Big Game Hunter shot the corpse from a suitable distance, and probably regales his friends with this tale of bravado today. | | | |
