One thing to add from my Wycombe connect - what are public transport connections like to Heston? Kone can't drive and currently gets the bus to training

Train to Hayes and Harlington and then a very pleasant 25 minute walk along a duel carriageway, through a death star Costco and across a large motorway.

I appreciated your closing para, Clive, in calling for patience and not heaping too much expectation on this 22 year old. He's not played Championship football and there is a step up in quality compared to L1.

Everyone will be very excited and want to see him bang in goals. Let's give him some time and a lot of encouragement and I'm sure he'll do just that.

One of our many injured players can make themselves useful to the project by being Richard's chauffer.

I think with Kone in (and hopefully Saito in the way) it's definitely time. A loan at a League 1 side would do him a lot of good.

Watching him last night it wasn't just his fitness, he was making the wrong choices, trying to force things to happen. Probably linked to his fitness, but it is a concern.

He desperately needs a really good L1 loan, like Eze and Chair. Would he even agree to go though?

Looking at the analytics clips, I feel like 2 up top with Burrell pressing and feeding, and Kone mopping up could absolutely cook.

We'd need to play 352 though, as our midfielders seem to only be allowed one of the "pass" or "run" attributes in their character creation screen

I think potentially with his wages being minimum £7k / week, probably likely as a multi million pound striker, be close to double this, so if he doesn't employ a driver himself, three or four taxi journeys back and forth, each week, is hardly going to break his particular bank....

But fantastic signing.

Whatever people like to think about our club being called a project - Belk, Nourry and Stephan all chatting to prospective players, about our plans here - well they are being sold a dream and many so far, are lapping it up.

I appreciate a lot of fans are suspicious of Nourry's motives etc, maybe because he can be a bit unrelatable to your everyday Jo, but there is no doubt they are trying their damnedest to get things right throughout the club. And there have been several green shoots poking through.

Every time something doesnt go to plan, its completely Christian Nourry's fault - ie the cup game last night - and if something goes well, ie signing of Kone - he isnt mentioned.

Me myself, I am way more aligned to what is happening now and think we are absolutely moving in the right direction. There will be defeats and under par performances, but the overall trajectory, i expect to be upwards.

Am hopeful and optimistic, without being certain and I definitely feel some of these signings this year have been outstanding.

They have not played much yet, but so far Mbuenge, Poku, Burrell and include Vale as did not see him last season, they all seem to be potentially very positive signings and with Kone on top of that, already this looks like a very good window for ourselves and credit where credit is due, a great deal of that would be down to Nourry - appreciate some wont give the guy any credit whatsoever though.

As said the successes are someone else's diligent work and the failures are always down to Nourry - think we are seeing a bit of a change in the narrative recently....

Welcome Kone - very positive beliefs in himself shown in the interview intro to the club.

I really like how he can score with both feet , its such an advantage with half chances , especially going up a level where the time to get a shot away will be much less than he is used to .
Good Luck Richard

Thanks for the info, Clive and Greg.

Never seen him play, so this is useful.

Kone, Burrell, Poku, Dembele and Chair + Koli if he stays is a mouth-watering prospect :)

Viva attacking football :)

Well if Saito is coming back as well then I think there's probably a discussion to be had about Kolli.

He needed to get a pre-season into himself, he hasn't done that.
He needs to get 30 games into himself this year, that's not going to happen here with those two signings.
Once again last night, clearly unfit. Spent more time in the second half doing hamstring stretches than he did upright.
Kone first striker, Burrell second, Frey third, you'd assume Celar is going, is this an opportunity to get a half season loan into Rayan?

Would young Rayan go though? I could see it triggering another transfer tantrum by his dad among others.

After the friendly against the Dutch I hung around waiting for the roaring crowds to disperse from Block G. Had a bird's eye view of Kolli going on and on at (the apparently still alive) JCS about a move that hadn't worked out.

I'm not saying it's related to anything but he seemed very wound up - I think sending him out on loan rather than him finally getting his chance this season might have a similar response, only longer and messier.

Not that it's the wrong thing to do by any stretch.

Superb signing, a real statement and I'm loving the strat to pick up the best of the league one for expiring contracts.

One thing I picked up from his interview. He talked about how much he learned from the likes of Sam Vokes, and Gareth McLeary, etc... It made me wonder where the equivalents are here. It's great to have a younger squad and all these lads with high potential, but part of developing them is also having team mates to learn from.

I guess we have Cook in defence and at this point the likes of Chair, Field, etc have hundreds of games and are senior in terms of experience, but I wonder if that's a consideration for our recruitment team.

Anyway. Great business!

I noticed that Paul Furlong was on the bench with the other coaches last night - not a bad sounding board for a 9 like Kone. Similar physique and game, started off playing non-league for three years with Enfield, played at every level domestically and in Europe. Reckon Furs could teach Sam Vokes a thing or two, never mind Kone. Frey probably knows some tricks too.

I think a loan is the best option for Kolli, but I also don't think JS see's him as a striker. I think if he's used here it'll be more LW/10. As you say with Saito rumoured, Dembele there atm, and Smyth there in pre season, I don't think he gets many starts - if/when he is fit.

After the last ten years I’d reached the point where I thought we would never sign a proper centre forward ever again. Can only say well done Mr Nourry for getting this over the line.

With this fella and Burrell it feels like there’s finally some hope.

With Kolli I keep thinking he will be more than decent if he’s in the right set up, that’s not been the case here. No idea of the length of his contract but a loan at the right league one club would elevate his career way beyond Kelman and would likely pay off the cost of Kone and Burrell.

There is now some sense on what’s going on behind the scenes, just hope we’ve got the right manager for all this.

To quote Micky B before he went and contradicted every single thing he’s ever said - at some point you have to say to Dunne Field Chair, you’ve got 200 games under your belt you are the experienced player now.

And tbf to them I think they all see themselves as that now.

Nice to see the lad at our club.
He'll enjoy it here, only league games to work on, as the cups are a day off for most, if not all, first teamers.
