Beckwith back on the bench instead of Barlow. Otherwise same as last week. Would have preferred a more attacking option at left wing back.

We may have seen an insight to the released list before it’s been announced. As much as I’m pleased to see Beckwith back, that Burger, McBride, Allarakhia don’t make the bench when we also include Baptiste with so many defensive options starting already says a lot.

We have been poor. Two really good opportunities to break and Rodney fails to make the most of them. Good balls by Perry and Hannant for the goal but otherwise our passing has not been great. Need to step it up the second half and press on for more goals. Trying to sit back is a recipe for disaster.

Huge miss from Hannant. Got to score that.

They're targeting Whatmuff with us having no reserve keeper

Absolutely. Whitehall left an arm on him in the first half as well.

Whatmuffs kicking has been awful today.

Now we have Petitt on Rodney has gone more upfront. Paying dividends already.

How good were Perry and Mani today and great to see Beckwith back on the pitch. Plus Dev showing the class he's capable of.

Miles better second half until one long ball and then it was a bit of panic until were actually started to manage tge game. Perry was excellent and Rodney was much more threatening in the second half.

What a difference a week makes.

Fortunate start with the goal.

Best performance from Gilmour since his return.

Great finish by Devante.

A good yet not spectacular performance has seen us through to the final and a better nights sleep for all .

Well done Rochdale, I was hoping you would turn the Irons over, despite their physicality. Now go on and win the final. That will be one less team for us to fret about next season.

Head and shoulders the best player on the pitch.

People talk about how good Beckwith is, but he won’t have the same career as Perry.

We deserved to win that, much the better team. The tactical substitutions were way above this level. Pettit on for East to play East as a 10? Won the game. Then the following subs at wing back clinched the win

For the finale, we've got something resembling a full squad (minus those you've identified as possibly moving on at the end of the season) so it'll be an interesting conundrum who starts and the bench for Wembley, depending on whether Moss recovers

Was worth seeing Rodney in a more upfront left position after the enforced sub - he seemed to come alive and didn't fall over once... which raises the question as to how he's been utilised for much of the season

Edit: shout out for Casey Pettit, our midfield is a different place when he's on the pitch

On another note: was great to see a few of the players and staff hugging their kids on the pitch at the end; Hendo, JM, Done and Hannant, may have been others

I will give credit, were credit is due, Scunthorpe are potentially the dirtiest team, I have seen for some time, there is physical and there is dirty, and they dirty. The challenge on Whatmuff in the second half, when he had cleared the ball was shocking. I am amazed only five Scunthorpe players got booked.

Rochdale being Rochdale never make things easy, we were on top throughout the game and should have been more goals in front, but concede a sloppy goal to test our nerves, but we held on thankfully. Rochdale were excellent today in mixing the style of play and I feel Pettit may be a starter next week. I wonder how bad the knock Moss got, but it was a pleasant surprise to see Beckwith back on the bench and also being given minutes as well.

In my humble opinion Perry deserved the Man of the Match, he was outstanding to day.

Jim said moss was having difficulty breathing so his partner took him to the hospital

I think you need to look back at some of your posts regarding Rodney's usual position

It was a good finish today, and he benefitted from the enforced substitution. That's all there is to it, and there were plenty of regular, knowledgeable fans around me who were making the same point

Hopefully we can get the result we need next week and get back into the EFL, I agree there are some good former EFL teams in the NL.

Shrimper good luck in the FA Trophy final and hopefully you will win it,in fact you you deserve to win it, because Southend are a good team, with a good fan base as well.

Rodney has played both the left and the right 'number 10' positions this season, often depending on who is playing in the other role. Whilst there will be natural and tactical variations during games the basic posotioning is the same. He was just more impactful in the second half, capped off by his wonderful finish.

Our basic shape has not changed all season.
