I bloody hate this lot !! 18:48 - Jan 12 with 7350 views | TalkingSutty | Whats happened to our club ?? I can accept defeats and poor performances, most have us have been weened on that particular diet but the club is no longer ours, it feels as though a old boys club from Accrington and Merseyside have just rode roughshod all over our club and the Chairman and directors have just sat back and watched them drag the club down. We have players who have yet to start games who warm the bench and pick up a wage (ex accy), we have players who blatantly cheat/ no discipline and today we have a allegation of one of our players using racist insults on a kick out racism day. The club is being dragged into the gutter by this lot and its about time the Chairman started acting like a life long fan of the club and start to smell the roses. This lot are a bad lot and they are dragging the club down !! Count me as another one who wont be renewing my season tickets.

I bloody hate this lot !! on 00:06 - Jan 13 by olympicdale | That is seriously worrying, but I don't see the reasoning behind it. Why would any board member want their team relegated, and be still in a job, by a chairman, who supposedly has the clubs best interest at heart. |
Being fair to the Directors and others, they place personal guarantees on elements of the club's debt. As much as we criticise their decision making, overheard conversations etc., it would be very difficult to find replacements who are prepared to risk their own personal funds running into sizable amounts. They are entitled to their opinions. It just seems that they think that the Dale supporters in general are incapable of helping them turn around what is fast becoming a disaster area on and off the pitch. Shareholders need to take action. Not just fans. As well as the bloody football employees.

I bloody hate this lot !! on 19:48 - Jan 12 by 49thseason | Gentlemen and Ladies, I am afraid we are doomed. This club which I have supported man and boy for over 50 years either needs to be either painlessly put out of its misery now or it will suffer a long lingering demise. We have no money, few fans, a disinterested board, a one-trick manager and a team incapable of entertaining a bus queue. We have arrived at this position in the short space of some 18 months mainly because the board seem wedded to the idea that “something will turn up” and it hasn’t! We have nobody worth selling, no reasonable expectation that any of our previous sales will be sold on again, no cup run and gates that have collapsed. The board was culpable for this situation from the moment it didn’t insist on signing players of reasonable calibre to replace Dawson (who they new needed replacing 12 months before he finally left — a trick they have now disgracefully repeated with Ryan Edwards) and O Grady. Eyre was appointed and instantly undermined by insisting on the O Grady sale and not allowing him to buy a decent replacement. The sacking of Eyre after 21 games was a disgrace that split the board, the fans and the club as he wasn’t given an opportunity to bring in any players other than loans and was denied a transfer window which was then largely squandered by Beech. If they were not prepared to support him they should never have appointed him. The Appointment of Coleman will be seen as the straw that broke the camel’s back, it has ruined any pretence that this is a friendly, well intentioned, if badly funded club. He has tried to make himself unsackable by bringing in a tribe of has-beens and never-were’s that are generally worse than anything Eyre was forced to try and work with. They all must be entirely grateful to Coleman for saving them from a life on the dole. Dunphy is now in an impossible position. He sacked Eyre after 21 games yet Coleman has presided over many more including a full pre-season without any improvement but in Dunphy’s mind he probably can’t be sacked because the team are his players and a sacking would inevitably lead to a total collapse. The time has arrived to make a once in a lifetime decision. Coleman has to go - along with anyone who dislikes the idea. It would be better in my mind for Dunphy to take over the manager’s job himself and clear out the Scouse Mafia than continue backing this utter failure. At least the fans would know what the situation is and would, I feel, rally round the club. To allow Coleman and his mercenaries any further time at Rochdale AFC will be the equivalent of flushing 100+ years of league football played in a good spirit straight down the pan. We have suffered poor footballers , poor managers, poor gates and poor prospects before but there has been no previous occasion when I felt that the club was becoming a foreign place where cheating, playacting, abuse of paying spectators and a general disrespect for what the club is all about would become normal. To say we don’t want to be known as a sacking club is ridiculous. Cut out the cancer now before it causes any more damage. Get someone in who just wants to get us back to being the club we once were. Someone with manners, someone prepared to voice the difficulties and explain the problems, someone who knows what a winger is. I for one couldn’t care less if we never won again - better to lose in the proper manner than put up with this shower of wastrels for a single game longer. |
Sadly , that sums it up for me , after 55 years of support !

the club needs to start listening to fans, then they might realise that there are many people willing to put their own input into areas we are seriously lacking, like marketing etc, for free as a favour towards the club.

It seems apparent because the lack of action and the lack of communication has never been so obvious. It's definitely a sad state of affairs when at least 3 seasoned fans have posted their reluctance to renew for next season and I'm pretty certain that they are representative of a much higher number. |
Agree Judd. And renewal of season tickets might not be the only thing which falls by the wayside.

I bloody hate this lot !! on 06:12 - Jan 13 with 1552 views | Sandyman | So the morning dawns after watching yet another Dale capitulation. Don't get to many away games, so, despite the current on-field malaise I was looking forward to the Daggers trip. Maybe we could see one of the away victories which is about all Coleman has to hang his hat on at the moment. No. We played badly against another poor team a la AFC Wimbledon and lost. Can't blame Cav - apart from a couple of misplaced passes he had another decent game. What we got was the same old repetitious nonsense from our so-called "manager". A team with some talented individuals looking like it had done no work as a team in training all week. Again. After some of the shockers we've witnessed at home this season, and Coleman's press comments about improving this and that, we saw no improvement at all. We lost a game we were winning to a late goal - that's twice in 2 out of 3 games . Like we went down 0-3 at half time - in two consecutive games. No change, no remedy, and P3 L3 for 2013. And of course the rolling around and play acting so many on this message board are fed up of. No change there, again. We are seriously looking at being dragged into a relegation battle that is of no good to RAFC with Coleman repeating mistake after mistake, incurring loss after loss. Talking to some of our fans pre and post match, couldn't find a one who wants Coleman to stay. Plenty of those don't use this forum BTW. Scary to hear 2 of our senior and incredibly loyal fans turn against the club and what Coleman has been allowed to do to it. His limited scope for recruiting players (Accy/Merseyside) is lazy. Apart from the arguments re: compo, and blind loyalty, what possible reasons can there be left to keep him at Spotland? He's done enough damage now. Retaining him will cripple the club financially in the Summer when so many people are peed off with him that season tickets will not be renewed should he still be here. Loyalty is being stretched to breaking point. Some have lost loyalty and stopped coming to games already. Others are likely to follow. As the board seemingly CBA to address this, their wisdom as custodians of the club is even being brought into question. Can't decide as an S T holder wether to stop going to Spotland or not until Coleman is gone. But go he must. NB ** Prior to the game we visited Daggers club to watch the televised game and have a pre-match beer. Nice set up, welcoming locals. What was unbelievable but true, on the outskirts of our notoriously expensive capital, was that our round cost LESS in there than it does in our bars at Spotland. Cheaper to drink there than in Ratcliffes/Dale Bar/Studds. WTF is going on? [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Good post.Having thought about it i probably will renew my season tickets because i have invested most of my life into the club, so find it difficult to just turn my back on them. I dont blame anybody for going the other way though and packing it in, in fact i admire them for having the common sense to make that difficult decision. There is light at the end of the tunnel though for me, i am away for a month this coming week so that will be a welcome respite from all things Rochdale | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Well ive come to the point of wherw i have to make a decision... Do i want to continue paying £20 a time to watch a team that as an 80% chance of losing at home and then being bloody crumpy all evening.. Or do i say thats it no bloody more and stay at home.... I seen some shite in the 70's but i always thought it will get better the next game and it didnt but i lived on hope..saying that i was only a kid and i was watching my idols.. Now im older and understand whats going on but these are the times where there is no vote to save you from the dreaded drop.. We all laughed and sighed when stockport and Darlington went down and looked ahead with hillctoft at the helm and thought it would never happen to us.. Well im sorry but the past couple of seasons its increasingly looking like we could be heading that way.. There are the die hards who attend each home game religously and ive been there and done that. So whats the solution.........thats down to Dunphy he is in the driving seat...

How times have changed over 18 months! I bet if you had to do a thread on the team now it would read 'I bloody love this lot!!' Well done Hilly, well done Dunphy, well done the players, Jack the Kitman, the staff and most of all the fans for sticking by the club. It feels great to love football again.

Spot on For a decent first season in league one and Hilly will be off again..and who could blame him..i just hope the next appt will be a better choice than the rookie Eyre who was miles out of his depth...the" Moyes"factor...nice guy couldn't motivate the players ,couldn't attract the right players to the club etc etc

One look at this thread indicates we have to capitalise by ensuring the infrastructure is as strong as possible throughout the entire club. Accept we can improve and strive to do so. Just like on the field. Keith Hill being back is not the solution, it's the benchmark.
