I'm glad we decided not to spend £400k on the pitch this season considering how it seemed to be cutting up, holding water and not apparently draining away.......Oh..what, we did spend £400k? FFS. I wonder if there will be a strongly worded letter being sent on Monday morning or will we just accept that it rains in Rochdale... a lot,.. and no one bothered to tell the guys who did the pitch renovations! For those not there what happened with Vaughan? |
Him and McLaughlin went up for a header and Vaughan got a slight knock in the challenge. He then pointed and gesticulated at McLaughlin for a while.
Five minutes later, McLaughlin was brining the ball out of defence and Vaughan decided to launch himself into a challenge, scything down McLaughlin who slid across the pitch like an incompetent ice skater! |  |

When the ground staff were forking the pitch prior to the start, the fork down the Sandy end was going in ok. The opposite end was hard as iron. Obviously a major drainage problem. | | | |

The pitch is a huge concern. It's rained for about 3 or 4 hours today...not heavy, but steady rainfall as one normally expects in Summer.
If it can't drain properly now, it is not fit for purpose. Both the Company who did the work , and more importantly, the people who employed them, need to be held responsible.

Utterly speechless about the pitch issues how long has it been going on for now? how much money has been wasted on it for it to be worse now than it was 3 years ago. A game abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch in late July at the first spell of rain...

Possibly the case, the puddles were quite obvious in that area before we’d even kicked off. The amount of standing water even on the sideline that has been narrowed does not bode well for actual bad weather in winter. | | | |
