its a statement reminding all fans that £3000 000 was spent to save our club. if the Ogden family can be arsed to support Rochdale at a moments notice, then surely fans from the last 50 years can do the same. what happens at the end of the season is yet to be seen, so lets have a bit of respect for ALL employees at RAFC.

No, I'm sorry. Calm and measured, yes. Of course we're going to see the season out, we've no other option. Without a doubt, 12 months on, we're in a better position as a club with much of that down to the Ogdens investment. And we'll be forever grateful. Absolutely. But they need to understand that the watching The Dale is, 90% of the time, incredibly unentertaining and I'd go as far as saying anti football. It's crap. We've been soft for 5 years, even before JM took charge. It's like watching a team have a training session most of the time. We're miles better than most teams in this division from what I've seen, yet give soft goals away game after game and have very little penetration or creativity. And, not taking any credit away from Spennymoor, that all came to the fore last Saturday when without a shadow of a doubt we should have been putting that match to bed by half time and having an unbelievable opportunity to win a trophy at Wembley. He can harp on about all the external stuff but it's almost to no avail if we don't have a team that represents us in a proper way. Because we haven't had that for years now. We've had such a soft underbelly for so long many longtime supporters are struggling to stick with it and rightly so. To me that statement is almost valueless. We all know what they have done and we are all grateful. But we know our football. And we have a half decent squad for this level that has under delivered due to bad management which has arguably cost us a trophy and maybe yet even a play off place. So, I'm sorry, for me it's a poorly timed statement which is even slightly insulting.

I thought yesterday's interview from Ian Henderson was poor and almost like listening to Jim McNulty. He was pleased with our performance at Woking on Tuesday. In the second half we didn't create one chance to win the game and didn't test the goalkeeper, a repeat of numerous other away performances we've seen this season. We lost the game. He's happy with it though which reflects the mentality of the squad. What we deem as not good enough, they think the opposite and that must come from the manager. The environment doesn't sound like a challenging one to me. Even more so when he states that he and Jim had a chat before the season started and the plan was not to play much. So basically we went into the season with Mitchell and Rodney as forwards, knowing that Rodney is also prone to missing plenty of games. Not being able to get the second goal away from home has killed our season, it's all self inflicted and poor management. I've no doubt they will persevere with McNulty though but it's putting next season and the budget in hugh jeopardy i think. On reflection i think Camerons interview was that of a man who isn't in a rush, maybe he knows the club isn't set up properly to cope with a return to the EFL next season, it's still too early yet. We don't know properly what's going on behind the scenes. Anyway the fans have now had their say, if those in the Boardroom think what they are seeing is good enough and will increase attendances then thats their call. Today i will be at the game supporting both the team and the manager, expecting them to win. Five of the six teams we now play have very little to play for, we should be able to do this shouldn't we? The players have nearly a full weeks rest after today, one big effort today please and let's get three points. [Post edited 12 Apr 5:52]

If we are 'crap' but still better than most in this league, we must be doing something wrong to be struggling at the season's end to qualify for the playoffs. Do we want oldham's or halifax's style of footie? because they are in a better position than we are. Handbrake on, to hold what we have; or off, and risk getting caught. out. A FOR THE Ogdens, they know through experience, that success is built from the bottom up- get the infrastructure in place, then progress from there. as for their plan of making RAFC a focus for the community, I haven't yet witnessed 'the community' showing up. P.S. I'm all for handbrake off. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Hendo is very much in the same mould as Jim. They were both players in the same squad. I don't know if you went to his dinner in October (?) but he talked passionately about McNulty and what he is trying to do, and drew parallels about the young squad he has assembled with the one Hilly brought together when they had the freedom to attack and often scored 4 goals a game. He said that he thought the current squad was on the verge of being like that. The media team has rolled out Hendo, as a fans favourite, to calm the fan base down. No surprise to me that he is supportive of his current manager/best mate/ and his employer. Same with Camerons note. It reminds us that we have come a long way from being on the brink of extinction. We have indeed. It is clear from that interview that nothing is going to change and we will have to put up with this style of football for at least another year. All we can do now is back the team to get us into the play-offs and fight from there. If not, the team is 'improved' over summer and we go again. If we are still in this position in a years time then maybe the Board will realise it isn't working. But I am not surprised that the club has gone on the defensive with the communications this week.

Would agree with a lot of that analysis but if we were to capitulate (even further!) and completely miss the playoffs ie. not even a chance going into the last game or two, then they’ll rightly have a big decision to make.

Serious question because i might have missed it. When it comes to hiring and firing managers is there anybody in the Boardroom with a background in football? Simon Gauge's track record is terrible but we can excuse him because he's never worked in football and he never had any desire to be Chairman of a football club. This is going in the same direction as Stockdales tenure at the club, he was given another season when results told us we were going backwards. Then he blew the following seasons budget and was sacked before christmas. Crippled the club that. I'll still buy two season cards and support Jim and the team but I wouldn't be doing it with much confidence. Anyway, it's down to the Ogden family and it's their money i suppose.

We know the answer to that question. They’ve always needed more football experience and it’s not even a recent thing, we can go back to after Russ Green and Dunphy left. There are some interesting lines in that article that sometimes make it better not to automatically make a prediction about what will happen next season.

After watching that interview, I think Henderson himself realises he’s still fit enough and more than good enough for this team. Who knows, maybe he’ll want to extend his career having seen that the last few weeks.

and from the way he played today, leading the press (until the substitutions) and his goal, he's more than ready
