Poll: Greatest Ever Dale Game

Would be a good move for him and all the best if it happens, he’s served us well.

I’ll wait until it’s confirmed by Tazzy mk2 first though before I believe it.

“He was deliberately misleading the EFL”

His dossier will confirm the existence of Charlton.

O'Rourke is normally on the money. And I don't think we're surprised EOC is moving on.

Fair play to him. A three year deal on probably a much better wage and with a good chance of starting.

Thanks and good luck.

All the best EOC

Not in the least unexpected, and you've signed for a club with a pretty decent bunch of fans

Poll: What are you planning to do v Newport

Been a superb player for us and as others have said not unsurprising he has moved on to a club further up the leagues and pleased he has joined one with a fanbase such as Charlton's

who will Robbie choose as club captain?

Not the slightest bit surprised, but what a good move for him. It’s news I expected this time last year, so I’m glad we got another year out of him.

Very pleased for our friends at Charlton.

All the best, Eoghan!

He was a great servant throughout his time with us, with a great attitude, despite what some subscribers may think. We have had several quality centre backs and his is among the top six in my time supporting the club.
Was surprised he signed last year tbh. Who knows what the score was with BBM back then.
He has done well for him and his family and deserves any success that comes his way. At least the club know where they stand with plenty of time left to react in the market, but realistically we cannot expect to get another one as good as Bonsey any time soon.
Thanks and good luck fella.

After all the Charlton lot have done for us, its apt that EOC ends up there.

Good servant in difficult circumstances and technically better than most in League 1 and League 2.

I make it that the "controlled relegation" squad of 2020-21 has the following players that are playing in the Championship, just over 1 year after being relegated:

* EOC - Charlton
* Beesley - Blackpool
* Rathbone - Rotherham
* Humphrys - Wigan
* Baah - Watford

Almost like someone told BBM to relegate us!

Charlton are in League One.

You mean you STILL haven't worked out why some posts get down-ticked?

Charlton are in League One.

Thanks TVOS - shows how little attention I pay!

If I reflect and extend it to League 1 and loanees:
* EOC - Charlton
* Beesley - Blackpool
* Rathbone - Rotherham
* Humphrys - Wigan
* Baah - Watford
* Morley - Bolton
* Bazunu - Southampton
* Tavares - Coventry

Is that right?

Some feat to just be able to relegate all of those players to League 2!

Add Gabriel Osho, who played 23 times in the league for Luton last season...

Yes, although Tavares left us in January 2021 and Bazunu has improved vastly after his spell with us, not during it. Beesley was also a far better League Two player than League One player in our team.

Those players were relegated because the manager wasn't good enough and didn't really care, above all else.

Anyway, back to O'Connell...

Second only to Craig Dawson in my liftetime as centre back. Gutted to have lost him, but really he couldn't have been hanging around in League Two for much longer; he is 27 after all. We got one season extra out of him than we were ever due really.

After being at Bury when they went kaput, then Dale when we were nearly shafted by Roger/Southall, I hope he can have a bit of stability for the 3 years of his contract and help Charlton up the leagues - he deserves it.

Door will always be open if he ever fancies popping back on the way back down.

You're missing McLaughlin, Lynch and Shaughnessy as well who are all at League One clubs.

And Lund who, to my mind, could hold down a place in L1 side.
