A stronger line up and bench that I expected and not a youth teamer in sight. Looks like it is a case of sorry lads as you have been so poor no midweek off for you lot. Good to see EEL and Bilongo back in the squad. At least it brings a few more options.

Would like to think, with players returning to action, the board have given Watson a month to turn it around

Think you may be right in the message that sends out. Back 3 or 4 will be interesting. Only one recognised midfielder.

In the Liverpool game Francis sat and Silcott-Duberry and Henderson played advanced left and right side of him with two wide players. I could see the same again today with Paterson up top. Maybe?

Off to a good start in customer care.
Ratcliffes shut. Website says turnstiles open at 5.30 and from there you can go to the HY lounge and have a drink / keep warm. On arrival, stewards told to not let people in until 6. No access via reception either. Fab.

"And only as far as Casey Pettit......"

It seems Beckwith isnt 'fit' enough to risk playing many minutes in league fixtures but fit enough to start and risk an injury in a meaningless cup game.... mmm

This may have been part of the plan when his recovery was laid out. He also started against Huddersfield and played half an hour.

Four at the back. Wilson-Sherring-Bilongo-Beckwith.

Paterson and ZSD in midfield with Francis. Hannant and Middleton either side of Henderson.

It seems the manager has a few of these 'plans' up his sleeve for this season
Whats the difference in perhaps starting a league game, even more so when the teams shipping goals left right and centre...

Strangely enough just as im typing a fella called Henderson scores, leaving him sat on the bench week after week seems to be another one of his little plans

I doubt it’s the manager who is making the final decision on his fitness. Even tonight he doesn’t seem fully up to speed. We can only guess of course, but there was obvious concern about the injuries he had over the last year and preventing them again.

Id take a guess its the manager who has the final say who starts and who doesn't....just as it seems Beckwith is now coming off, the amount of injuries needs massively looking into as theres something seriously going wrong somewhere

Did it look hamstring related?

Yes, and he’ll take advice from the professionals around him on what’s best. It’s clear that Beckwith is far from 100% and we can only tonight’s substitution was only a precaution.

Certainly appeared to be concern around his left thigh area.

Sherring off injured now. You can’t make this up.

Edit. Or maybe not. Might be coming back on.

Edit 2: nope. He’s off. Flint on.

Beckwith and now Sherring off injured in the first half. Something seriously wrong with our conditioning.

Henderson looking sharp up front. Scored and hit the bar so far.

So how come Hendo is not succumbing to injuries? Does he not train as much? I can't make any sense of this injury crisis.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

Watson did say they were looking at everything they’re doing in training/all the data etc. Something is clearly wrong and they need to find out what.

He might be best served getting some advice from different 'professionals' if the current injury record is anything to go by, they dont seem the best at this injury management gig

Beckwith is Mancini rev 2. Got the ability but his body will forever hold him back. Absolutely cannot blame Watson. He’s a fully grown man going out for a game of football - the fact his body has failed him is the only take away.

Some people are just built differently. Hendos genetics are obviously just superior.

It’ll be interesting to see what the outcome of their analysis of the situation is.

It’s clear Beckwith hasn’t been ready to contribute for long periods of time and offers some explanation for his absence from the starting line up despite being back in the squad.

Never known a season like it, and it’s led to a squad that’s far too large just to cover for injuries.

Yes, holding his inner thigh behind his knee, could have felt a twinge though and maybe a precaution
