Grant Hall... Hmmm.... 10:00 - Feb 15 with 5902 views | WestbourneR | Said it before and I'll say it again, despite all the love on here I don't he's up to it. He over commits to tackles he can't win and gets caught out of position and he's very weak in the air, very, often see him get owned over and over again by strong centre forwards. That said Ned is also poor in the air. Incredible to say but I think Clint Hill is still the best centre back at the club! Ridiculous.

Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 10:12 - Feb 15 with 4567 views | PunteR | I think Halls our best defender. As much as I love Hill it would be pointless putting him back in defense. Isn't he 40 next year?. Hall is still learning so be good to keep Hill on as defensive coach. I still cant believe how Hall watched the ball bounce of the post for Fulham's 3rd though. I would like to see more of Angella instead of Onouha.

Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 10:15 - Feb 15 with 4553 views | BrianMcCarthy | He's our best player this season and he's still a novice. With coaching and physical training he'll improve massively. Keep the faith.

Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 10:40 - Feb 15 with 4461 views | stevec | Can't agree with this, he looks a good centre back to me. The problem he had Saturday (and Onuoha) was those 2 clowns in front of them, never seen a more pitiful display from central midfield. Luongo and Tozser were giving so much space to Fulham that it was inevitable two forwards like McCormack and Dembele would fill their boots. Those two cnts should hang their heads in shame. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 10:43 - Feb 15 with 4457 views | aston_hoop | Of all the players to call out, Grant Hall is quite literally the last. He has been consistently good this season and seems to improve with every game. He is still inexperienced in terms of games at this level and there will always be things he can improve on. But he has shown more than enough to be our first choice starting CB and more than enough to show that he'll learn.

Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 10:51 - Feb 15 with 4418 views | Neil_SI | The majority of players will have their strengths and weaknesses, and there will be certain players or styles of play that play into those. In this particular match, it was one of the first times we've seen how he copes when there is criss-cross type movement and runners in behind. Hall's game isn't based on speed, so if you get caught in behind, then it's always going to be a problem. His game is more about how he reads the play and engages and makes interceptions. I think that's the strongest part of his play and works better when there is one striker up front, as you always in theory will have your centre back partner covering for you if you engage and don't win the dual. He's won many of those duals because the style of play at this level suits him. I think he's done very well in the air this season, getting in plenty of excellent headers. It's also a plus that he is more comfortable on the ball than most, albeit he's not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than what we've been used to for a number of years. Again, he's not really a tackler in the sense that he's not someone who slides around and makes those kind of challenges, but he intercepts the ball well and he has a no nonsense attitude for the most part, maturely putting the ball out of play if he thinks that's the safest option. The physical side is about time. He's not played an entire season in his career yet, and he needs to do that consistently to find the beat. He has the physique to adjust to that, so it's not something that concerns me, and he most certainly should be given time and support to improve on the things he can get better with. Plays with pride, good focus and concentration. Think he's been a great buy for us.

Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 10:55 - Feb 15 with 4392 views | daveB | Hall was poor on Saturday but you could say that about everyone really, was a very bad day at the office. I do think it is far too easy for teams to get to our back four, The Wolves game was similar really seemed to only take 2 passes to cut through us with midfield players running at the back four 30 yards out and the two centre halves stuck between closing down the ball or watching the man who can be put in with an easy pass. It's been the case for a long time now but we really need someone to break these attacks up. Our midfield is too slow and the idea they have of defending is to pass sideways rather than close down space and stop runners. Joey Barton was good at that when he didn't want to be Glenn Hoddle but go to go back to Shaun Derry for the last person who did that job effectively.
Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 11:04 - Feb 15 with 4354 views | paulparker | I like Hall he reminds me a lot of when we first had Danny Maddix , a rough diamond who has the potential to be better, he also carries the ball from defence like Maddix used to I said a few weeks back that he does ball watch a lot and his reading of the game could be a little better , but overtime that should stop, what he needs is a talker next to him, like an old fashioned centre back someone who can pull the back four together and tell defenders like Hall where to be, shame clint isn't 6 years younger also what we have to remember is that he didn't have any protection from our midfield on Saturday and had to cover Konschesky if it were up to me I would go for Grant Hanley at Blackburn to partner Hall
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 11:19 - Feb 15 with 4316 views | bosh67 | I agree it wasn't Hall's best game but he was a hell of a lot better than many others on Saturday. By far our best CB this season and one of the best we have had for some seasons. No nonsense. Bashes it into row Z when needed. Doesn't put the keeper or fellow defenders under pressure. Good on the ball and can pass. One of the main good things this season. Difficult for him and Ned. They are generally close to each other but when Konk and Perch are out of position they are massively stretched. Happened 3 times in the 1st half. Our full backs work hard but are both way too slow. The wide areas of our team, front and back are a problem. Nothing down the left that makes sense and not enough down the right. So, I don't agree that Hall isn't good enough. He's easily good enough at this level and extremely solid and sensible.

Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 11:48 - Feb 15 with 4244 views | TacticalR | Nobody had a good game on Saturday. The thing that has impressed me about Grant in other games is that he seems relaxed and 'in the zone', so is reading the game well and making good decisions.

Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 11:56 - Feb 15 with 4204 views | francisbowles | Quite simply we were overrun in midfield which led to balls being played in behind our rather square and static defence. Not particularly Hall's performance, probably the least of the offenders, but collective responsibility!
Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 12:41 - Feb 15 with 4111 views | westberksr | I didn't go but having played 40 years at CB have seen enough to know that Hall is the least of our problems this season. from the sound of the comments on here it was one of those games that the defence was overun with their midfielders assisting the attackers. when that happens the forwards can go walkabout, drop into space and as a CB you are basically fukked; there are only so many holes you can plug. the 5th defender is necessary (defensive MF) to offer a bit of protection; the Watford guy is not up to that particular task and against Ipswich they insisted on missing out the middle altogether; so we temporarily forgot the stuff he couldn't do as the game lent itself to what he could do. this OP is a borderline troll post after the season that Hall has had; started off well and then got dropped for Angella; won and kept his place to the extent he is probably the first name on the teamsheet now. Does everything pretty well; and more importantly better than any alternatives.
Grant Hall... Hmmm.... on 13:44 - Feb 15 with 3981 views | RsStaines | It doesn't help the defence when you are playing with only ten men. Tozzer the Hungarian International who is not fit to lace the boots of Akos Buszaky is a complete passenger in the team. I don't know what the statistics show but from watching him I guess he covers a lot of ground without actually doing very much.

Not sure he's disinterested mate, he just looks to have the same problem as Park, Sandro, Ferdinand - lots of signings we've made i.e. no legs. Physically spent. Just cannot get up to the pace of this division.

clive honestly think he has the legs hes just not prepared to use them , even so his lack of awareness is shocking think it was the second goal on sat instead of tracking the runner he was on the edge of our box facing the opposite direction , he prob didnt go with his player 10 times in the first alone, remember clive he knows this division already having played a decent amount of games for watford last season, i can take a player being below standard if he at least trys and makes a tackle his first tackle was 42 mins into the first half 42 mins the rest of the time he spent trying to avoid getting involved in anything , soon as we saw the line up and no faurlin we knew what was going to happen in the middle of the pitch

I know mate, he has been gash. Wouldn't been the first time a club as wrung the final dregs out of a player only for us to sweep in and think "oh he played for Watford last year so must know the division and be alright" with a two year contract in hand. I liked the signing of him and Angella as well. Shows what I know.
