That shouldn't put the manager above any particular line of questioning post match. Sadly, we don't have a strong local reporter following the club, and the club's own media team aren't allowed to ask anything controversial.

Not allowed?!

How hard is it to ask "Keith, what was behind your defensive selections tonight?"
"Keith, has the sending off cost us?"

You'd have to ask them... If you're allowed, that is.

The post-match stuff with Mark Crossley is excellent too.

Only serves to illustrate how laughably bad it is normally.

Well actually, we last won on a Thursday on Boxing Day 2013, but that was a 3pm kick-off.

Some of the quotes coming through from Hill do seem to address the questions proposed on here, to be fair.

Just read some on twitter, credit to Hill for addressing the obvious issues within the game. The discipline thing really needs sorting as we've lost too many players for too many matches.

The defensive mistakes? Gone on far too long and we all know what we need for next season.

Looking back, it was probably a mistake to put Joe Bunney through the full 90+ minutes on his return against Gillingham. With the game won comfortably, he might've been rested and be in a better place fitness-wise now. Jaffa cakes are over-rated

I'm not normally one to point the finger at the referee but we made it easy for him with the early bookings.
He was letting similar challenges go unpunished for both teams in the second half but by then the damage had been done.
Wimbledon were physical and would still be running and giving 100% right now, 2 hours later. The difference was that they were 'cuter' in getting decisions to go their way. Sly shirt pulls on the blind side as an example. Ardley has them drilled, probably the fittest (not in the looks department) we have played against all season. Was a ringer for the Oxford home game where everything they did positive ended up in a goal for them whereas we hit the woodwork 3 times.
Onwards and upwards against the Cobblers.

Hang on,the Wombles did n't earn a single booking against our lot......Hilly must be tearing out what hair he got left........imagine the coach trip home for 4 hours or so. Time to reflect.

Do Players get fined for indiscipline these days or are they just the victim of a "tut tut" and a wagging finger?

Back many years ago when I played Sunday League footie, fines where levied and you thought twice about being a clot the week after.

For 70-75 minutes Dale were the better team. Sending off and a very poor start to the second half cost the match. Yet again poor defensively at key moments. McNulty was poor and Keane idiotic. It’s crystal clear in the summer which part of the squad needs work!

Match Fred Wimbledon on 05:04 - Mar 29 with 1844 viewsrichfoad32

Keane plays on the edge so there is always a danger of it happening. Without the benefit of a replay, you couldn't argue with the sending off. Maybe the first caution was contentious, it looked like he took man and ball but the second was nailed on. He'd struggled to get to grips with Elliott all night and looked frustrated, no need for it. Other than that crazy ten minutes the Dons didn't carry a great deal of threat but as another poster has said, they are fit and physical. Before we went down to 10 I reckon it was a case of whoever scored first would go onto win and after it was always going to be too much. MOM for me would be either Hendo or Allen, who never stopped running and chasing although at one stage I would've put money on Hendo following Keane for an early bath.

Possibly a step too far for the playoffs now particularly with our iffy road form, but still a couple of derby games to come so let's try and end the season on a high.

Wasn't at the game nor listening to the commentary, but I feared the worst when I saw Keane had been sent off at half time. As we hadn't scored it was going to be difficult for us to get anything with 10 when we can't defend with 11.

From the Wimbledon forum it appears they were not generally that happy with their performance (apart from the goals) and commented that it looked like they were playing with ten men after they went 3-0 up. Some other observations from there:

'Keith Hill came off at ht saying to his directors "it's happening again". I presume he meant his team were playing dirty bastards & not getting away with it. Certainly their directors weren't happy with the refs performance, but we couldn't see too much wrong with it. '

People on here saying our bookings were deserved so take their word for it, but from my experience of reading their forum off and on over the years is that they think almost every opposition is dirty while failing to see anything bad (in terms of fouls etc) done by their team. I think we tend to be far more objective in comparison.

'I couldn't understand why they switched Mendez-Laing from the left wing to the right as he was running Francomb ragged for the first ten minutes and and I feared we were in for a severe beating, especially because he was also putting dangerous balls across our 6yd box. They shot themselves in the foot with that one.' 'He was going past Francomb as if he wasn't there. Not so much Francomb on toast as a three course meal of Francomb, Francomb and Francomb with Francomb sorbet in between '

'Almost as strange as to move Calvin Andrew to left back when 3-0 down. Or to take Mendez-Laing off at 3-1 '

Even the opposition fans notice our weird defensive selections!
