Match thread: Bradford away on 20:27 - Oct 20 by dingdangblue | In Hill's post match interview he says Williams is the hardest working forward in League 1! High praise indeed - hopefully the penny has finally dropped and he can have a very successful career at Dale and further. |
More shite, i'm afraid, by Hill, since he hasn't got a clue whether he's the hardest working forward in L1 or any other division. He's not even the hardest working forward in our squad! But fair play to Williams, he can only improve on what we've seen so far and i'm sure every Dale fan hopes he does. It's not a matter of pennies dropping, there's more than one penny been mentioned in free fall in the past couple of days with complete silence when it fell [Post edited 20 Oct 2018 20:39]

Hill does study the football science side of things so you can now see who has ran the most - but I very much doubt it's Williams just yet as he's hardly a regular starter at Dale never mind in League 1! I'm guessing Hill might be saying such things to get a response from the player - let's face it he's done nothing with us for 12 months so even getting him on the pitch and working hard for the team is an improvement.

I would imagine he means defending from the front, putting pressure on the goalkeeper and defenders, as well as dropping back to cover where need be. There was a good example in the second half where he pressured their left back and won a corner

Thanks Leedsdale. It appears some earlier posters miss interpreted K.H by thinking he was calling him the best forward in L1. In that i agree, he is not, but was relating to his off the ball workrate.

Where does anyone state that Hill said Williams was the best forward in L1? The discussion was/is around his workrate, and it's an insult to Dale's other very hard-working forwards to cite Williams as the paradigm Hendo, for instance, works his bollocks off in the Dale cause, so does Andrew and in fact, there isn't anyone with any length of career at Dale who doesn't None of which detracts from wanting Williams to succeed. His success is Dale's success is our success But tbf, Hill can talk all the post-match shite he likes. We can see for ourselves who's putting in a shift, and who isn't (when that happens) [Post edited 20 Oct 2018 22:12]

There was an instance in the second half where Williams was involved in an attack but it broke down and Bradford were breaking in numbers. Our defenders were running back but Williams ran the length of the pitch to stop the man with the ball and ushered it out to a nothing attack near our corner flag. So with things like that in mind I can see what he means. I certainly can’t imagine Wilbraham doing that, although we’ve all seen Henderson and Andrew do similar. I think there’s a touch of JT about Williams in that he’s one of those players we all so want to succeed and he does put in a lot of effort, but there’s always that lingering impression that he doesn’t quite have what it takes. I bloody hope he proves me wrong though! | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Match thread: Bradford away on 22:11 - Oct 20 with 2970 views | Swissdale | Brief summary of today; We weren’t as good as last week but won (and deserved to) We were better in the first half, allowed them in a bit during the second Bradford are TERRIBLE (I mean, really bad), can’t see them staying up. Moore & Dooley were great, and should get a stretch in the team now Wilbriham is a poor-man’s Calvin Andrew, which is a very poor man indeed Nice little cushion between us as the bottom 4 now, I think we’ll hover here for the rest of the season. Let’s hope for a good cup draw on Monday - Gateshead away for me (if we can’t get Eastbourne of course)

I think KH is perfectly entitled to talk "more shite" than the posters on here in view of his record as Dale manager.
Match thread: Bradford away on 22:18 - Oct 20 with 2929 views | James1980 | How did Camps play, has being dropped worked? If we lose a midfielder or 2 in January. Could JW11 actually work better as a box to box midfield engine/playmaker? Add a few goals into the mix and be a lower league Gerrard or Lampard perhaps? [Post edited 20 Oct 2018 22:23]

Couple of really good points there: Bradford were pub standard at times, especially when it came to clearing their lines; that gap is the key for everything we need to focus on. Five points isn’t bad, look to push it towards ten.

Match thread: Bradford away on 06:26 - Oct 21 with 2461 views | smaclad1 | OK, time now for a sober reflection and a dose of reality about yesterdays result. Bradford are a club in crisis, both on and off the pitch. Talking to some of their supporters pre-match, they have lost a lot of off-field staff who had contributed to the development of the club, including James Mason who is seen as a particular loss, and not even the offer of a the Dale's two goal giveaway could generate any degree of positivity that they could take anything from the game. So what do we come away with. Nothing won from open play. A win based on two penalties - the first Henderson had lost all momentum in his run and it looked unlikely he would produce anything from it as there was another defender coming across to cover if he hadn't been pulled down, the second, their goalie went down too earlier, and could have shepherded Dooley even further wide than he was going. And Bradford could easily have been one or two up anyway by the time of the first penalty with a little good fortune. So, with Bradford's issues all round and how things panned out on the pitch - I'll take the somewhat less than emphatic three points but don't really see anything in that to show we have turned a corner or whatever. On the other hand, I generally enjoy my days out at Bradford but yesterday was a real good one. Out with the SMAC lads visiting all three pubs on North Parade listed in the 2019 Beer Guide and each pub a cracker, meeting with posters from on here and some former work colleagues, and including a fascinating short talk/lecture around noon in the Record Café on the development of sporting clubs and leagues in the Bradford area - not usual matchday fare, but welcome all the same.
Match thread: Bradford away on 07:45 - Oct 21 with 2405 views | Boss_Hog | Perfectly summed up by Smaclad, couldn't have said it any better. Bradford have real issues, poor throughout their side and issues off the field. It will be a long season for them. We were average, the first goal won the game and we got it. Praise for Moore, Williams and McGahey and I thought Done caused them problems at the head of the midfield diamond.

Whilst we may not have played at our best a win is a win. Three counter points. How many times have we played well and come away with nowt - that's football? A win should give us more confidence. It's a 46 game season. As frenzied asked about Plymouth on another thread teams come good. And go bad. 2 pens, 3 points, job done. On to next week. It will be 2 different teams on the pitch and plenty more to discuss I'm sure. [Post edited 21 Oct 2018 8:48]

For crying out loud, why are you hanging on every word hill says and finding it an insult. Henderson doesnt need a confidence boost, jordan williams does, hill has attempted to give him one with a glowing review in a post match interview, its not hard to work out is it. Indeedy. Last week ir was Kgosi This week it was JW11 Hilly is very big on the individual positive mentality right now.Possibly why there was a keeper change too. Not been a happy hunting ground for Josh. Forgot to mention praise for Moore yesterday. Couple of decent saves but also his distribution was good and his catching at corners excellent.
