I really don't give much of a shit these days about QPR.
I have been going since I was 13, I am now 47 but the last few years has finally taken its toll, I fear.
Maybe I’m just getting old, maybe the fact I have pants older then Jack Clarke and maybe the fact that the owners talk constant crap about progression when there isn’t any and players repeating the shame old lines defeat after defeat plus I have read on various QPR message boards people pulling their hair out over the fact that Wells has left, I don't care. Now I read the BFG is going, I really don't care , are we going to sort the defence out? I’m past giving a shit.
Don’t get me wrong, I will always love this mad mental club of ours, I love the bush and meeting up with pals on the matchdays I now decide to attend but the boards massive lack of aspiration and ambition is finally taken it’s toll and I feel I might not be alone in feeling like this, tell me it’s not just me!?! Is it!?!?
I think Friday night kinda summed it up , if the club don’t give a fxxk then why should we? Ok, it’s the FA cup I hear you say but I don’t see any ambition in the league either, is staying up really the stuff that makes people go to games and spend their hard earned cash?
I’m sure many of you will be thinking piss off and support Fulham then but that’s just daft, I just think I’m falling out of love with the modern game and the crap that comes with it like twitter, sky sports and foolish post on football forums, a bit like this one I guess..
I was definitely getting this way in the JFH - McLaren era, but I’ve loved this season, sucked me right back in. Can’t think of a single boring game, and while the defensive mistakes and heavy defeats to Brentford are annoying, watching a team led by our own kids and always feeling confident we’re going to score has been brilliant.
To be honest the pints before and after with my Dad/mates/family are more important than the football anyway. Been doing this for 35+ years I’m not stopping now

And next season was going to be our season!!!

Bloody hell, that’s a good un. It makes me feel like hearing the theme to Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads.
It still matters to me, I still go when I can and I do think this season has seen some good football and progress. It's still tough reflecting on the wasted premier years and it still hurts when we lose but I try not to let it eat me alive in the way I would have in former years.
I still think Warburton was a good appointment and we could go on to build something good, but it might take a few seasons. The cup exit was annoying but we move on.
It's in the blood what else can you do?

This is the bit that's starting to get to me about the club. Maybe i'm just being impatient or something but this treading water or 1 step forward 2 back as another poster put it, is getting a bit tiring. Little bit of apathy setting in? The goal every season should be about winning the league right? Our goal it seems, is balancing the books. Ok, its also been about bringing the youth through as well, which has been a relative success and great to watch this season, but no sooner as we get a rough diamond shining so to speak we start talking about selling him.! Still early days for MW. I hope this season is more a dress rehearsal for a successful season next. And when i say successful i don't mean just not getting relegated. Just my little moan for the day. Dont get me started on the training ground fiasko..lol

On the football. I hate the modern top level game but it's still the passion of my life. The fact a bang average player earns an absolute fortune and can get themselves a 4yr contract which can see them never need to work again and by doing so we often see players downing tools or basically never trying a leg. Every club paying big money has had them. One thing I miss is the old pros playing down the leagues for the love of the game, Simon Stainrod and Chris Waddle at Falkirk for instance, imagine that now? We all hate the 'Wayne Rooneys Derby County' and of course he's being paid too much but I admire the fact he still wants to play the game and I do believe it's simply because he does want to play football and fair play to him for that. He should be a hero to the average English football fan given his international stats and there's few with that type of record who have gone down the leagues in recent times. Scottish football is closer to the 80s game many of you remember with pitch quality, up and at them style and wage levels relative to the supporters so I do often wonder why so many of the older brigade mock it so much, I do understand the EPL generation but that's not the average demographic on here. I'll never compare it to EPL for technique and skill level but for honesty, excitement and drama it's every bit as good imo

Fan since age of 8, regular each season since 1980, my heyday of supporting early to mid 90's - most home games and several away games then.
Yes a home defeat hurt and my mood was sour for the weekend - no doubt.
These days 52, ten home games a season in a good year, four or five in a bad one, pile of shite - one week - world beaters the next.
The thing that irritates myself in recent times - as soon as someone gets good - and this season we have had a few - we know they going to be off to bigger clubs such as Brentford , Burnley and Bristol City !!! - GOOD GOD YES THEY ARE ALL BIGGER CLUBS
The only redeeming feature about our club in recent times is many see us as a place to send decent players for a loan period where they can get games here and most definitely progress.
As yet all the players that then leave ourselves for supposedly better pastures new - none have done as well as they have done here.
It saddens me that we can't keep the likes of Nakhi Wells - and that Bright, Eze and Chair improve so quickly that no matter have we started drooling over our potential and then it is taken away in a snap

Money has had an impact such that progression is futile. Its not possible.
We, in particular, seem to be a groundhog season every year.
Promise, attrractive football, best players bugger off, young players come through, the dross we loan or sell and the amount we spend gets lesser and lesser every year.
We will never be competitive in the premier league.
We could not go through an entire season with a stable playing squad - drastic changes most years and then transfer windows like this one that drain all the hope out of a club when suddenly things seem to be clicking
Lets face it football as a competitive arena is done - never again will Qpr be runners up, come in the top five or top half of the premier league - indeed it seems some are almost joyous if a top half championship season is possible.
But if I was 20 years old I would still be looking upwards but years of supporting - you begin to understand

Leicester City though keep the hope of miracles alive for many a championship or lower end premier league club.

I'm a similar age and in line with many of the views here.
Ultimately the way money has taken over the game since the1990s has killed the dream of a club like us ever winning the league. While it was always a tall order, in the past it could have been dreamt about. 76 is an obvious example but we had several other top six finishes too. I can't help noticing how much better the atmosphere looks in clips from old 1970s and 80s games etc.
Then along came Sky, the premier league, owners like Abramovich etc and the bloody champions league. Its shit now compared to how it used to be. Yes the football is better, more technical etc but going to games was all about the exeprience and excitement. The FA cup is reduced to a sideshow when cup ties used to be some of the best and most exciting games of the season. Teams like QPR sacking off cup ties to try and finish 14th rather than 16th, what a load of bollocks.
Look at the premiership now. 15 teams trying not to get relegated. You can look at the likes of Burnley and others who are currently up there with admiration but all of those smaller clubs will sooner or later get relegated. Not a question of if but when.
Brentford. Yes they are very well run. Yes they might even get promoted. BUT, they are very limited by their size and even the new stadium won't fix this. The buy low, sell high philosophy won't work forever and they are going to need more than that to stay up if they do get to the prem.
Seems the best we can hope for now is building sensibly to try and get promoted and then enduring the relegation sh1t fight that is most of the premiership. Not very exciting.

I thought I was falling out of love with football what with all the liverpool fans gloating about winning the league for over 18 months now - a bit premature (12 odd months but I did enjoy their bottle job last year ) however at this point they have it and I hope Shrewsbury really tonk them in the cup but I think their u23's will win....
However I digress with use reverting to youth and generally not over paying for mercenaries I started getting dragged back in and then I had one thought - I hope Villa go down and get nailed against the FFP wall.... however I see 2 things preventing this - there may be 3 crapier teams in the prem and the football league treat so called bigger teams with kid gloves... however there is still hope.... so currently I am somewhat melancholy about the whole thing.
Can I also add that the January transfer window is horseshit. Football was better off without all the uncertainty, wild rumours and crazy transfer fees.

Everything has a life cycle, and if you’ve been involved in something like football and QPR as long as I have (46 years), it’s almost inevitable that your interest, passion and the importance of it will likely wane. In a way, sad if it doesn’t because if you haven’t got other interests, then beholden to a football club is sad.
My issues are more with football itself: I don’t like anything about it anymore! What I mean by that, is the game is no longer at the heart of football; it’s been totally corrupted by money.
For me it’s a real shame. As an amputee growing up, football allowed me to play on an even basis; it gave me confidence to overcome my disability and gave me so many happy memories. I have gone on to do more than most in life, and I attribute a large dose of that down to what football gave me.
Supporting QPR has been a pleasure. I have had great laughs and met many Rfosi around the world through our common bond. That doesn’t end but because of the succession of crooks, clowns and charlatans that have been involved with QPR, my reason for going when I’m back in London is more now down to rekindling fond memories of yore and meeting my chums, than really worrying about the outcome of the game.
And that’s it for me: friendships made. If Rangers ceased tomorrow morning I’d be more sad at losing regular contact with a lot of you, than worrying about Eze moving on or what fee BOS will command.
Like every proper club, we the fans are or were what it’s about. I think despite that utter idiot Tony Pony ruining QPR, the club has started to grasp that again. It’s certainly what I’m holding on to.
