Release List Reality Check 18:56 - Jun 20 with 5513 viewsjonahwhereru

Did I at any stage in the last 4 months think that Ian Henderson was definitely going to sign a new contract,no. I Hoped he might but like many speculated I feared he wouldn’t. When time dragged on it seemed less and less likely.
Did I think it was a done deal Callum Camps would stay at Dale given the choice, no. I always suspected that this might be his time to spread his wings.
All the others released I can see a case for it being the right decision. So Covid or not we are sort of where I regrettable expected us to be right in terms of the squad.

Dale now have the largest amount of wage headroom they have probably ever had, admittedly in very challenging times for many clubs. Big pressure on BBM to make signings that can maintain a decent position in the table next season. I live in hope and belief he is the right man to do it.

Since the turn of the century we have rarely been without a very decent striker. We have a nack of unearthing them. A pessimist would say our luck is about to run out, an optimist would say an exciting new challenge lies ahead. I want to be an optimist.

Hope this terrible virus has one plus point, when its finished.
That these shark like agents no longer exist.
It football wants to get back on its feet, get rid of all football agents.
They are draining the resources of all teams.
Hendo had 2 agents its disgusting.....

Dont understand the need for 2 agents...

For me all dealings should go through the PFA with a small admin fee....

My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds

Exactly, any offer pre covid19 with the board pushing the boat out to resign our top scorer will take some matching now along with the freedoms afforded him for his Herbalife work , locality, etc. These two super agents must have some big moves lined up!!! Good luck to him hope the extra money he may get is worth it!!!

What are the "freedoms allowed him for his Herbalife work"?

The wage cap will be a blessing in disguise for Clubs like Rochdale because it evens up the league. Players will choose the Portsmouth’s and Sunderland’s because of their potential not because they are doubling or tripling our wages. If Henderson was to sign for Salford or Bolton the likelihood is he will be on less money than he was with us.

Agree on that front, and it’s why it’s so vital that we stay in League One. The longer we can offer better wages than bigger clubs in the league below, the better.

you may well be right but it's a bit ironic complaining about the lack of humanity in a social media communication on a social media site

But it is highly unlikely that Hendo could phone each of us up, isn't it?

Poll: What is it to be then?

Whilst sad that Hendo is being allowed to leave the club and if his side of a story is true as to how he was informed,I do wonder whether in view of the suggestion that the club Directors took a decision to allow all players out of contract to leave the club as to whether a financial position was the main player in their decision.Whatever the offer in monetary terms was to Henderson way back when, the football world is now a different place and with a very uncertain income stream in the coming months and the possibility of a wage cap or more likely a more realistic view of a players worth in terms of his wages made his offer appear generous and so the decision was taken to withdraw the offer.
Again it may well be by releasing the money which had been offered to Henderson into a market were players who we might have doubted our ability to attract financially 6 months ago now come into our wage range .

This is a really good point. What 4/3/2 thousand a week would have got you six months ago is markedly different now. Maybe the contract offered to Henderson months ago may now secure a young, quick forward with potential resale value?
