An interesting game in that during the first half we were second best all over and our flaws were highlighted by Morecambe very well. A few second half subs and bit of flair comes into our play and we turn it around. I still worry about suspensions and injuries exposing us horrifically over the course of the season, though. Hopefully our ongoing transfer activity pays off.

Amankwah looked very good so let's hope he's ok.
Other positives were Brierley and Dunne who looked very good.
I'd say Baah, Tavares and Bradley were all hit and miss all game. Great to see Tavares get the goal and Bradley involved in the second. Hopefully Baah sees some positives from his second half performance where he looked much better.
Seeing Rathbone get more minutes and perform well can only be a good thing for the first team. A shame that Lund is still nowhere to be seen.
I might be wrong but I think with the amount of changes we made it might mean Jim has to start on Saturday? But that might have been the case anyway with McShane having a knock. | |

Surprised that Rathbone and McLaughlin start. I expected both of them to be on the bench. Interesting that Rathbone takes the armband. More good management from BBM. Making it clear he is appreciated during these head turning times.
Personally I would really like Tavares to get on the scoresheet. It would do him the world of good.

Couldn’t have asked for a better game for our young lads. A decent League 2 team who put out a strong side and looked really up for it!
Although it took us a while to get going I must say those young lads keep going right til the end. Relentlessly asking for the ball and trying to do the right thing.
Really happy with that. Morecambe didn’t deserve to lose but from our point it was a perfect game for us. Nice to have 8k in the bank and some invaluable experience for our young players. Happy Dale Fan! |  | | |

Pretty much second best all over the park based on the first 45 minutes. we seem to have lost nearly every challenge in the air, and this lead to them taking the lead when a set piece was headed in following a weak attempted challenge by Jim I think.
It really really underlines how short of strikers we are, with Tavares looking quick but nowhere near ready for league football, and Baah not doing much on the scraps he is getting from midfield.
Rathbone also quiet by his standards. Hopefully, we can step it up in the second half with a couple of subs. |

Yep, 2 good results but a forward line that will struggle to get regular goals over a 46 game campaign against some better defences. However the transfer window still has almost 4 weeks to run so I will hold judgement until then. Has been posted by a number of people that clubs like ours will have to wait until the crazy money for forwards has been paid by bigger clubs & then we will see who is left. |  | | |

I enjoyed last night's game, both from a Rochdale fan perspective and also thought it was a good game generally. Personally I didn't think we were too bad in the first half but couldn't argue with the score going into half-time.
I thought the second half was really good, with Ollie in particular showing how important he is to us. I thought the subbing of him was very odd at the time (presumed to protect him) but actually the subs all worked well!
Learnt my lesson to read the team sheet, I kept thinking "Dunne" referred to "Done" but couldn't see him on the pitch...took me a bit of time to click! I thought Dunne had a quiet game, along with Bradley - but neither did too much wrong either that I saw. Brierley took a bit of time to get into the game, but once he did I thought he played really well.
Baah and Taveres did some good stuff, but seemed to drift in and out of a the game a bit, but perhaps that was my perception because we were playing it out from the back so naturally the attacking players will see a bit less possession.
I was surprised at how often our players seemed to change positions (it felt more like a friendly at times) but actually they all seemed to know their role and it seemed to work. We played some really good football at times.
I listened to the Morecambe commentary (given I presumed that was all that was on offer, I know for next time!) and actually thought they were pretty decent to listen to - which seems to be against most opinions on here. |  | | |
