As I replied to your mate it's amazing how Dortmund paid 25 million for him when he played in a poor Birmingham side.
Winning the CL & La Liga Player of the Season at the age of 20 makes him pretty special in mine & lots of other people's eyes (maybe do a search on previous winners & you will see he's in pretty good company).

Quite successful both as a Club Manager and an International one. |
I was thinking more about the reasons why they didn’t qualify for two world cups in 74 and 78, Clough was available later. They ignored him and took the soft option after Ramsey. Same as the players they selected.
All the flair and genuinely decent players were ignored in the main. Osgood, Marsh, McDonald (scored five on his debut, not sure if he played for a few years after that ) many more. Look at Matt Le Tissier ? Completely ignored for most of his career. So much so Wales were being encouraged to pick him.
