Berkoes early yellow ruined his game and a sub much earlier was required.
We got virtually zero crosses into Mani, 2nd minute aside.
Oh well.
Such a massive chance. There was no need for Mani to have been stretching for that cross either - a bit more care from Rodney and it should've been 1-0. Smith's chance too - great ball from Beckwith and it should've been a simple finish to lob it over the keeper - it was poor. In games like this you just can't give up opportunities like that and expect to win.

Thought we were really good first half and should have been ahead before they scored. Responded well and expected more of the same after the break.
Unfortunately what followed was one of the worst defensive displays seen in recent times with EEL particularly poor. He has two opportunities to deal with that ball over the top for Stones first but didn’t and from that point on we imploded for about 15-20 minutes. Even then we still should have scored a couple more ourselves.
Berkoe just doesn’t offer enough going forward and tonight wasn’t even effective defensively so it’s Allarakhia every time for me and a midfielder needs a rest too. Some good for thought but we were well beaten against a side that have no problem in playing their way knowing they’ve goals guaranteed.
EEL has had two shocking games back to back, we got away with it at the weekend but the best teams punish you.

Boston was a wake up call defensively (or should have been)
We are still too cautious not getting enough shots on target when POMO presents.
Dale seem to overplay for tap in goals and (or) make the difficult choice rather than a well executed simple one.
It’s done now.. Move on collectively with lesson learned and a hunger for it to not happen again. So the season does not implode it is vital we get back on the pitch v Aldershot on Saturday…

I knew it would be a difficult game, with the squad York have, but I did not expect 4-1, but give credit to York, they are a quality team, did they also score 4 against Carlisle. Again why did he change the team with Berkoe and Smith starting, instead of McBride and Allarakhia, he does mention illnesses, but sometimes he does it for the sake of doing it? Does anyone know, what as happened to Levi?
The positive is that we have two games in hand at home, with just two points behind Carlisle at the moment. The season will have a lot of twist and turns, but we need to get to winning ways against Aldershot, if it is on. As the Scunthorpe game been rearranged yet?

You are right about overplaying it. Even when McBride was through on goal in the 2nd half he tried to pass it to Mani D. At the other end Pearce was through on goal and shoots into the bottom corner. They are encouraged to pass, pass, pass so much now sometimes that natural instinct to shoot on goal is ignored.

Plenty have called for Berkoe to start the more challenging games, but I believe he doesn’t give us enough threat on that side and hands the impetus to the opposition. The Smith change was working as it baffled York’s back three by forcing them further back.

If Smith had finished that fairly straightforward chance it would have been a great decision to start him. Hendo would have lobbed that in with his eyes closed.

BJ said Smith strained his hamstring in the process of going for the lob, and the highlights pick up his reaction to the strain, so he gets a pass for me on that one. However Conor my son after saying on here that I loved the way you are less shot shy than anyone else in the team, you do that. Restore the willingness to shoot please. Feel sorry for EEL he was outstanding in the FGR game, which was our biggest game of the season at the time. His honesty in taking responsibility for the defeat in his interview after the game was interesting. Sense he will be on it for the next one. Have to say York are a big threat to us this season, now they are settled into a formation that is really working for them. But let’s not forget we are still in the box seat in this league. We are still a feared team. Plus Mani is overdue a goal or two. UTD

Watching the Smith chance again, he could have easily given Mani an open goal with a single pass. Understandable why he took the chance on, but not going ahead was a turning point even though we responded well to their goal.

I think there is a conundrum that needs sorting though because it's impacting our goal threat and also creativity in the final third. It's Xmas soon and Mancini is a waste of a wage, we still can't get him on the pitch. Amantchi doesn't score goals and has made no impact. So we're carrying two players that really need replacing if we want to challenge with the likes of York, Rodney in particular is always likely to pick up a injury, thankfully up to now he's had a good run this season. You can also factor Hendo into that discussion, there's been a reluctance to play him for a long time now, put out to grass it would seem. So thats three players who are at the club to provide and score goals and none of them are contributing for various reasons. That's on the manager to sort out. We also need a young centre half with a turn of speed and a bit of experience at this level.

They were saying on that National League podcast last week that Amantchi had returned to Walsall? Don't know how they know?
