| Full backs and Wingers 09:35 - Dec 21 with 1601 views | JPC | Might be obvious to some, but I feel that a very significant contribution to last 2 home performances has been our 2 full backs. Mbengue gives his winger absolutely nothing, and RN-D in a slightly less showy way is also stopping any team making any inroads down the side. When you compare the joy that our wide players are having this season, it feels pretty significant. It also means that our centre backs are not being pulled out of positions and exposed through a lack of pace. | | | | |

Best LB in recent memory, would rather buy him than Ronnie

Having two good full backs has finally made us look more solid at the back, Leicester have two good wingers which were pretty much nullified yesterday. I'm hoping Mr Sheens observation isn't an omen, it's the last home game before the 1st January when I guess he could be recalled and the way our squad is balanced at the moment retaining Davies is far more important than chucking a load of money at Edwards that we may not have.

I wonder if SUFC inserted a recall clause? I can't remember the timings here if his alleged falling out up there was with CW or the bloke he replaced. Either way, RND has just looked solid from day one. No frills, just gets the job done and he's had some tricky fcukers to handle. He's the bloke I thought we were getting when Bidwell came.

Fatawu got round him two or three times early but RND got on top of him and Fatawu seemed to lose heart and interest. Didn’t anyone else notice after about 30 minutes, Nelson could have played an easy ball short to him on the touchline, but turned away and belted it into the Paddock instead? Fatawu went mental and chased after him shouting. Shouldn’t laugh.

Heard this too, hopefully he isn't recalled. If so, hope we have a replacement or a bid lined up
| Full backs and Wingers on 11:57 - Dec 21 with 1138 views | bosh67 | I thought he was on a season long loan to us but I guess they may have a recall? Would be a great shame, he's like a left sided David Bardsley. Really dependable and solid. I guess the only thing is that Field would be a natural replacement and he is also pretty solid at left back. I agree though with a few on here. If we are buying a player in the new year I would prefer to make RND a perm here. | |

| Full backs and Wingers on 12:11 - Dec 21 with 1104 views | derbyhoop | RND had his hands full with Fatawu, followed by Monga. It cost him a tallow card, although he'll live with that in added time. | |

I agree. Forget resale value, just have him lock down the left back position for 4 years. He has been exceptional for us. Was up against Fatawu and gave him nothing all game. Seriously well rounded full back.

Since they told us Brian, that they have to manage his minutes, he has started every game!
| Full backs and Wingers on 14:12 - Dec 21 with 856 views | simmo | A 26 year old on relatively high wages you have to rotate and physically manage to steady performances? He also got tortured for 20mins when the kid came on and is one game removed from Boro where he played like a man concussed! I think overall he's been a great addition - especially as I personally believe the decision to go with Larkeche would have gone the way of Joe Walsh - and if we sign him perm for a decent price I won't be too upset, but I have to believe there are better / more affordable full backs available... | |

I know, which is kind of hilarious! He was very poor at Boro, though, which was his third game in a row. Not sure if that was fitness-related or not. [Post edited 21 Dec 14:17]

I like the full-back pairing of Mbengue and RND but to suggest that we are more solid defensively isn't borne out by our poor defensive record to date: fourth worst in the league. In fact, we had conceded fewer goals at the same stage last season. For mine, the key differentiator is that we now have vastly superior forwards in Kone and Burrell compared to anything that has preceded them for quite a while, and they are ours. The two have contributed to over 40% of our league goals to date. [Post edited 21 Dec 21:49]

We find it so hard to keep a clean sheet. Yesterday was a classic example; I know it was a rebound from a penalty but Jimmy was so slow to react and Hamer was very slow to recover to what was a very mis-hit shot. Twice Nardy deserved clean sheets. (Especially v Birmingham) and they never happened. Our GA column is poor for a team on the cusp of the playoff places.

The one to be blamed is Sam Field who gifted a penalty to Marti who gave him so much game time.
