Will be strange having our next two homes games at Accy. But grateful that they have helped us when we needed it. I see that Accrington play on Monday night, and then we play on Tuesday night. The weather forecast is very chilly - perhaps -1c during the second half. In fact it is forecast to rarely get above 1 or 2C all week. Praying that the weather doesn't get in the way of our games next week.

As for the fans I hope we are travelling in good numbers despite the inconvenience. The coaches are leaving 3 hours before kick off so that won't appeal to many of those that needed a lift to the game. Just hope everyone can get there that wants to. You can see from the ticketing platform that we have about 250 seats left to sell - with terrace options available too. Not sure Hartlepool will be travelling in numbers as they have sold around 100 tickets so far.

Lets hope the club gives this game a last minute push tomorrow and we can make The Wham stadium a home fortress and bring back the 3 points over Owd Betts.

464 bus runs direct from Rochdale to Accrington centre, 20 min walk to ground.

Only issue is last bus leaves at 21:25 back.

Not useful for this game but can be used both ways for 2nd game on Sat.

Poll: DF in or out

Number 7 bus from Accrington bus station goes past the stadium.
An alternative to the 464 is the train from Rochdale via Todmorden which was mentioned previously on another thread (by TVOS?).

It's a good choice of venue playing at Accrington and i'm sure plenty of Dale fans will turn up and bring the noise behind the goal. The management teams approach to these two games will be crucial i think. There has to be a realisation that we are the home team and it's up to us to take the game to our opponents, my fear is that we might lose sight of that and the game becomes a bit of a tactical borefest like one of the National Cup games and we end up making it easy for our oppenents to sit back and come away with something. A neutral venue might lead to neutral displays by both teams, i hope that's not the case and we don't play with the handbrake on. Let's start the game as we mean to go on, the playing surface at Accrington is fabulous.

Making my first journey to the North West as an exile. Partly because I always watch Dale at Christmas (since moving away) and for the novelty of watching Dale as the home team on an away ground. Rather excited

Does anyone know if Accrington was our first choice of venue and why Accrington were happy to help us out? Obviously we should be very grateful regardless but is it down to a good relationship between the clubs, financial or a bit of both?

I assumed Oldham would have been the first choice or maybe even bURY (if giggle is up to it) or maybe even Bolton. As I said above we should be grateful just wondered how the decision was made.

I imagine Oldham and Bury wouldn't want to risk their ground being defaced by a minority that probably would...

I imagine it came down to money, Accrington are no different to our club they always need extra revenue. They also have a lovely playing surface, a plastic pitch at bury would mean we couldn't field our strongest team, Rodmey can't play on a plastic pitch for example, as we saw at Tamworth recently. I hope everybody treats Accringtins stadium with the respect it deserves, no defacing anything or stupid acts of vandalism. The Ogdens are paying out enough money as it is and don't want to be landed with a bill because of childish behaviour. Let's all represent the club well and leave a good impression on everybody connected with Accrington Stanley FC. Personally, i think it's a great venue and see these two games as a bonus to the season rather than a disadvantage.

I heard that the decision to use Accrington was made as they were the only option that could stage both games rather than using two different venues in the space of five days.

Stanley beat Harrogate 1-0 last night at the Wham....att 1995.

Perhaps some Accy fans might be lurking around to see some proper football tonight as well?

I'm pretty sure we've also got a decent away record at Accrington. Seen us win there a fair few times.

Yes we’ve got covered seats on both sides & the covered terrace. Doubt the uncovered end will be open, looks like Hartlepool are down the side too.

Radio Tees “There’s a time and a place to play around at the back and Rochdale are playing into Pools hands by messing around”

Interesting that they are playing 3 up front for the first time under featherstone, clearly they have seen our p1ss about at the back tactics! Also funny to hear someone shout your fcking clueless Jim come through clearly!

There’s times i honestly think we are doing well inspite of Jim not because of him!

Shocking performance. Defensively all at sea and passing is miles off. Pritchard having a nightmare so far and little threat with Smith at centre forward.

Some of the abuse being thrown at individual players is pretty sad though. But then again, wasn’t it said how it was crucial we didn’t overreact when there’s a bad display?

Some players need to take responsibility and step up that’s can’t be argued, Hartlepool are first to every ball. That’s nothing to do with formations or tactics, it’s wanting it more. The way Broome is being left with so few options says it all. This is a real test.

Changes needed at half time.

Our tactics are no different to when we have been winning. The performance has been shocking and the players have gone into their shells. Numerous times Broome has just ended up going long as the options aren’t there at the back.
Oh and they played a forward three on Friday. Just Charman has replaced Nathaniel George.

Nope. Try again.

Looks like we've had 11 players on the pitch who have never met each other.

We seem to be slow, small, weak... surely it can only get better?

That’s been the worrying thing. They look completely unlike the side we are used to yet it was probably a team most would have been happy with.

They’re letting each other down. But trusting they know that and will respond.

I'm Just going off what’s being said which is pretty decent and not particularly partisan commentary. They are shocked how bad we look. They put a lot down to them pressing and playing 3 up front and that we are pedestrian. Also saying how much we miss mani as an outlet.

Hopefully we can play as we can second half with urgency, as it seems woefully like a top of the table team that have won 7 in a row!

A terrible first half and Hartlepool well deserving of their lead. Maybe our injuries are catching up with us but we look completely disjointed. Smith and Rodney not working. Big performance needed in the second half and changes required to get anything out of this one.

The Mani thing is the most noticeable. Smith really struggles as a focal point.

With Mani (or Henderson) they know how to shift defenders and be an out ball - see Henderson’s goal on Saturday. It’s why Broome is being hung out to dry and leading to some fans screaming at him. But what’s he supposed to do when there’s no option nearby and he has to go long?

With the improved squad we have got better playing against teams who don't press. Massive to that, of course, has been Whatmuff and Mani.
