Back four, two midfielders a 10 (Henderson first half, Jenkins second) a centre forward.
Whoever the trialist outfielders were, they didn’t impress much.
Youth team players seemed ok, but sorry don’t know who they are!
My main thought after tonight is we need to find a way of getting three midfielders on the pitch or we look to sell one of East or Gilmour | |

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, the pitch at FCUM is awful. I know they had issues last season, but it was crumbling with huge divots and sand coming up at times when players kicked the ball.

It’s that we have those two, Pettit, Francis and Jenkins. If we are playing a midfield two, we have to start looking at the make up of the squad and how we look to build whilst still getting income from player sales.
If we want to play two and a 10, with East an option in that role, fair enough. I don’t think we can afford to have either of East or Gilmour as non-regulars when we could make 2-300k from a sale.
Will trust Watson to make those decisions; and fully accept that it’s only an opinion seeing how we’ve set up in one friendly. | |

Gilmour and East can do anything that Petit and Frances can. Selling East and Gilmour is selling the heartbeat of your team, you would be daft to do that. Some Prem club is going to buy Mateus Mane before the season kicks off, Wolves are asking £35m Man U, Liverpool are said to be interested and now Newcastle who are perhaps looking at the gap left by Gordon...noone has met the asking price yet but these seems to be in competition for his signature... I may upset some posters, but I believe that we should maximum the rules on squad numbers, i.e. 22 outfield players aged over 22 and any number under 21, because when the transfer window closes on the 1st September we cannot sign anyone until January. So the idea of selling players is questionable, in that when you take injuries, suspensions and the loss of form into consideration, we need to be able rotate players. Yes, if we get an offer, which we cannot afford to turn down, I can understand selling someone. I cannot understand what is going on with Edwards.
The game last night was about getting fit, but even so, I am, like concerned, like many others, about the recruitment process, are we still using MKRT or not, to identify players. In that other teams have identified players and signed them, We used MKRT to identify Hayes and Maquire, but that is it. I still believe we need a right back, left back, a CD, winger, at least one striker, plus some young players, like Nevett or some in on loan from teams higher up for the reasons mentioned. Yes we have weeks to sign players, but we need to start on the front foot, with games against Tranmere, Newport and Crawley coming up, winning these games, will build confidence. |  | | |

More needed in terms of recruitment but we all know that, Watson included. I think he was being more positive than he let on in his post match too. He will not have been happy with that and literally the only positive is that it will be 45 minutes match fitness for players and we've obviously three players to come back in Maguire, Hayes and Hannant. |  |

Principles looked much the same. Retain the ball until the right option becomes available. Did look to go wide quite a bit.
It’s really hard to tell at this stage though with the combination of playing a team that’s mixed up with youth/trialists and players getting used to a new formation. | |
