I am beginning to wonder what as happened to Corey Edwards.
I wonder if Kane Taylor will be on the bench tomorrow and apparently he can play left back, hopefully he will do a good job.

He was out of contract, was offered a new deal and has not signed it.
I notice he is an 'athletic' midfielder. Maybe Watson has decided that East/Francis and Gilmour are maybe not athletic enough for how he wants to play?

Going off Watson's explicit references to a need for greater athleticism in his last interview, i'd say that's exactly what he thinks about our midfield options, especially once Pettit got injured (solid, if not athletic)
Our engine room needs an EFL makeover, which, if done right, will deliver benefits to our defence as well as our forwards

Two central midfielders in a week would suggest your right. Can see a couple of the promotion winning team moving on before the transfer window closes. Credit to the manager he has given fair opportunity to impress in his way of playing.

Was mentioned earlier in the summer before the Jenkins and Pettit injuries that we had the option to look to sell a midfielder - become that club again which moves towards a level of sustainability by knowing when to get fees in for players.
With the recent signings, Pettit to return at some stage, this should again be an option. Both East and Gilmour have been here 3 years and a massive part of our success. Whilst it would be great if both continued at the same levels as previously, if we could get 2-300k for one it has to be seriously considered.

One thing's for sure: Watson is either a complete dud (he's been likened to Eyre and Stockdale this week) or someone with a cold, hard and realistic view of how to construct a competitive team. His record before joining Dale suggests the latter, and the due diligence of our BoD suggests the same
Tomorrow will be instructive, but not definitive. We can now see the kind of talent he's able to attract to the club, something which McNulty was able to do (Perry's loan signing last season was a real catalyst to pushing us on) and today's loan signing might prove just as influential; it'll take time for the rest of the team to adjust to playing with someone at his apparent level. It'll also put incumbent noses out of joint
All of this is part and parcel of management. Me? I hope Watson proves to be the kind of cold, hard bastard that it takes to push our fabulous club forward. We shall see
