The majority of Carlisle fans are exactly the same (not Griff who comes on here - he’s a top bloke).
Last season we were “Rochdale, f****ing Rochdale” according to a number of supporters on their forum and they pretty much refer to every opponent in that division in the exact same way week after week. It’s hard to feel any sympathy with arrogance like that and until they change the culture at that club from top to bottom they’ll be there for a long while yet. |  |

Garrard has proved he is a top manager, but why oh why did he gift us the playoff final?
In our hearts we know they were the better team until he substituted his 3 strikers so late on. Brunt, AbdulMalik and Akinde. He would be forgiven for thinking we were down and out. Anyone would. Jim would almost certainly have put on some extra defence in the same position.
Of course having scored twice we had a big advantage in the extra half hour.
I`m very pleased for him if he can make up for it this season, especially against the Carlisles and Southends.

Can't think of any other shootout where no forward took a penalty. Of course, we didn't need all five, but in retrospect, it was a masterstroke by Jim McNulty. The pressure of scoring on a forward is higher than for a defender/midfielder, and in that All Or Nothing situation, pressure is the key factor

I can’t help but think we would’ve ended up down there for atleast two or three more seasons. Jim would’ve gone regardless, and I am sure we would’ve retained a few more
Players than we let go. But with a new manager, and probably still Ian Watson, it would’ve been a very tall order to recover from the heartbreak and then rebuild.
We are blessed to be here where we are today and the recent upturn in results helps you reflect with a bit more of a stable mind. Crazy times, probably once’s in a generation stuff. |  | | |

With hindsight, we overlooked many things in the euphoria, some of which we are suffering from still.

There was an ace one on X last season who came out with all sorts of nonsense.
When they signed Galvin a few Dale fans told him that he wasn’t that great but he claimed that it was sour grapes and bizarrely claimed that playing in front of more fans would make him a better player. He seemed to think that Carlisle had beaten us to his signing because of how massive they are instead of the reality that we probably had no intention of trying to sign him in the first place.
95%* of them are up there with the buckets and Biffos for delusion.
