| Injuries on 12:06 - Nov 2 by Stainrod | We have an entire army of conditioning people these days. And we have expensive new training facilities. So don’t think it’s lack of resource. The spotlight is on Ben Williams. His career record is mixed, his football experience limited and his manner/ behaviour controversial. And our fitness record under him is appalling. So maybe he should go. My only word of caution is that for all the criticism, no one has really articulated anything specific that he is doing to apparently cause / fail to prevent all these injuries. If he carries the can, few tears will be shed. But if the club isn’t conducting an INDEPENDENT deep dive into what is causing our on-going fitness issues I fear the same problems will hamper us long after he is gone. |
You've put your finger on it there: what's causing the issues and what can be done to remedy them. It's too easy to just find a scapegoat and think that solves the problem.

Thats certainly the nagging doubt on this season, more than good enough to challenge but 15th wouldn't be a huge shock

If he is then it cuts down JS options unless you introduce Morrison into the Team, where did you hear that JCS is not playing tomorrow??, suggests he has gotten worse since sitting on the bench on Saturday!!!

Lot of potential injury hazards for Jake on a bench. Splinters for one.

Sitting on our bench seems to be a dangerous occupation at the moment. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Bunker in Kiev or dugout at Loftus Rd? The latter mildly safer (Ben Williams seems bullet-proof after all) but true to say both carry their dangers…

The issue is the people running the club don't want an independant review telling them they are wrong and we know they have history of marking their own homework. We are ready to make an impact on the top half of this league, but we won't if honest conversations can't be had about our injury issues. Williams going doesn't fix the issue, because they will just replace him within the 'methodology'. We need someone running that department that is experienced within football or other like sports and can challenge and likes to be challenged. Someone that can create that culture of great communication within a department. I know some physio's and S and C people that work in high level sports (university friends from my days at St Mary's), they all say it's one of the most fool proof areas you can get ahead of other teams, IF you get the balance of knowledge, planning, people and culture right.
