I'm not his biggest fan but the last 2 matches he's played reasonably well under pressure from the spotland crowd
Yet after 2 mins today the odd mindless idiot in sandy today thought after 1 misplaced pass thought shouting get him off was a gd idea
What does he need to do to get a ounce of support from these morons

Cavanagh is always going to be a target for abuse as he plays a very simple game. He breaks up play and then plays a simple pass. Unfortunately he sometimes attempts more complicated things and looks out of his depth. To me he is a good midfield anchor who can play in the weird formation we seem to play.

I thought Cav had a great game yesterday and played well on Tuesday (I hope if our manager reads this he doesn't think i'm calling him the Messiah though!).

My problem wasn't with Cavanagh, it was the fact that he was playing because he was JC's (our manager, not the messiah's) mate. Just as I dont have a problem with Phil Edward's, just the fact that he has lost his CB place, his Midfield place and his RB place, only to miraculously regain it yesterday.

I quite enjoyed yesterdays game, the win would have been the icing on the cake.

Cav is the new Joey T. Some 'fans' have already made their mind up on him and can't wait for him to make a mistake because they think it gives them a right to hurl abuse at him. It's sad but entirely predictable.

I think Cav had a very good start to the season, then a few poor games either side of an spell out injured, and has now had two very solid performances against Oxford and Fleetwood. It should be between Cav and BBM for the holding midfield role, P.Edwards shouldn't be anywhere near the starting XI unless playing at centre back.

the reason is because hes absolutely awful the ONLY thing he can do is tackle, people say he plays a simple game but to do that you have to be able to play a simple pass properly! when we was building up momentum he'd end up shooting from 30 yards out and stuff - it might just be me but he really annoys me!

I think that's overly harsh, the thing with Cav is he isn't always going to go and play a worldy cross field ball. But what he does do is allow the players in front of him to go forward freely knowing that they have someone there to break up the play if we lose the ball.

Its early days yet, we've played what? 20 games with this current crop of players, I was impressed with Cav in pre-season and I thought yesterday he had a decent game (didn't get to oxford due to work).

there is more to the cav issue than just his selection

it's who he is selected ahead of (which has been players like JK and rafferty) and why that might be (possibly because he is colemans mate)

if he keeps playing well by all means keep picking him. i like the direction we now seem to be taking under coleman but in order to keep up this momentum we can't carry any deadweight which cavanagh has shown he can be.

I thought P.Edwards 'n' R.Edwards developed a solid partnership at the heart of the defence before Bennett came into the side, P dot seemed very assured, and commanding in that position.

Cav's first game back was at the expense of JK leaving us with PE and Cav as holding midfielders, Tutte looking lost and Dale looking as a team like they didn't have a clue, having previously gone 6 games unbeaten, won a Gills and Rotherham etc.

Morecambe had a field day until 60 mins when PE was sacrificed for JK.

While some criticism for this change was rightly directed at the management (why change a winning formula, favouritism etc) some of it rightfully landed at Cav's feet, for he had an absolute stinker.

His next outing was v Plymouth at the expense of Rafferty and while I didn't go, he got grief once more as Dale were walloped. Again, a case of why change a winning squad.

We've not lost since then so he's fine until the next defeat, simples.
