Dagnall and O'Grady 15:14 - Mar 20 with 3148 views | boromat | In the boredom of the current situation I've been enjoying the video clips posted by the club. It's reminded me of what a good partnership these two had!! I think they may even be the best partnership we've ever had? A lot of people mention Holt and Lambert for what they went on to accomplish but in Dale shirts I always see them both as great players individually rather than a great partnership. Any better partnerships for dale?

Dagnall and O'Grady on 17:18 - Mar 20 with 2357 views | YadHoDale | To be fair, not as good as COG/Daggers or Holt/Lambert, but Mark Hilditch and Barry Wellings got a few as a partnership in 1980/81, in a Dale team which for the first season for several actually won a few games and didn't trouble the re-election zone. My first st season of watching regularly, so I have a soft spot for them...
Dagnall and O'Grady on 20:46 - Mar 20 with 2254 views | JumeirahDale | Not quite the same as they weren't a Number 9/10 partnership, but the short time that Paddy and Super Kev Townson played together was electric.

Lancaster Stuart and Whitehall all got 15 1 season I think. LS and DP probably our most vital partnership Glenn Murray must be up there with someone

Dagnall and O'Grady on 04:32 - Mar 21 with 2073 views | D_Alien | It was a salient feature of our only promotion and successful period in the third tier prior to 2010, that we had no outstanding partnership up front of the type this thread is about Dagnall & COG just can't be bettered in my lifetime, and watching those goals against Bournemouth is also a salient reminder of the genial football Keith Hill was able to conjure before it went to his head

fair comment D_A I have not seen live the period you mention you have that advantage over me I also accept that your are in a better position to judge however wasn't the Butler Buck Jenkins Cross era special something the younger fans missed.

Hendo and Done had a pretty good spell starting with that away game at Crewe. Didn't maintain it for long enough though I don't think to contend with Dagnall and O'Grady.

Who did Glenn Murray play alongside? My mind is blank.

They both played prominent roles in the promotion season, but it was never mooted as a partnership and quite often it was either/or, often due to injury

Very special, kiwi The most prominent partnerships though were in central defence, Ashworth/Parry and midfield Rudd/Leech

Thanks. Whenever I think of Murray I don't think if a partnership. He could play up there on his own he was that good at our level. Having them three at one time was pretty impressive. It seems to be getting much harder to find these types of players nowadays.

It was indeed, but Dagnall and Alfie always struggled when paired together. Too similar, perhaps? When Murray left in the January of the 07/08 season, the loan signing of Rene Howe proved to be a pretty successful one as he ended up as the target man for either Alfie or Dagnall to play off (although Daggers did miss most of the season through injury). Personally I think Hill let his heart rule his head when we got to Wembley by pairing the two of them rather than one alongside Howe.

I don't think it was reported at the time, but I've since learned that Barry Fry wanted something like £25,000 from us if we started Howe at Wembley. It was a slippery thing for Posh to do, and we didn't cave in.
