Erm.... Oldham Athletic P P Notts County tomorrow after a wee bit of frost. Tinpot club.

Could be deemed unsafe in the area if the roads and pavements are treacherous too. Not sure we can complain about another club and their pitch given the problems we have had this season and the costs fans have incurred as a result. Sometimes best to say nowt

Macclesfield doing well on there’s today against Palace! I know he wasn’t exactly a favourite here, but D’Mani Mellor is playing well up front.

He was always a willing runner/workhorse - just the quality and finishing/decision making was lacking. He never stopped running today - a great quality to have in today's football.

Their own pitch was unplayable last week and the Truro team had travelled. Karma in force given the grief some of their fans gave out - some calling for points deductions for postponements due to pitch issues.

I'm not so sure about that. For starters, Burton are in League One. Yes, they're struggling, but there's still more than a whole division between them and Boreham Wood. Also, BHW had comfortably dispatched two struggling League Two teams in Crawley and Newport to get to the third round. Bromley, promoted from the NL 18 months ago, are currently top of League Two. Chesterfield, who went up with them, are in the play-off places. Barnet, last season's NL champions, are in the top half of League Two and while Oldham are in the bottom half, they are 14 points clear of the relegation places. It seems to me that if a promoted club can maintain the momentum that took them up, they are likely to bridge any perceived gap without much ado and subsequently perform better than the more established EFL clubs who have been treading water in the lower reaches of League Two for a number of years, such as the current bottom two.

Interesting, and a good argument for why 3 up 3 down is fair.

Yes, i'm aware of all that, and having witnessed three Dale promotions have no doubt about any of it. Boreham Wood however, are in uncharted territory. What i was hinting at was the *potential* psychological damage that might occur for teams aiming for their first EFL experience, being thrashed on their home turf by a team currently struggling in L1 and therefore the type of outfit they'd have to face if promoted It's unlikely yesterday's defeat will have added to their confidence. I could've typed all that before, but 1) was busy and 2) try to give the benefit of the doubt to readers in interpreting posts, with a view to looking at positives for Dale to take in their battle with Boreham Wood ( *among others) for promotion * thought i'd best spell that out in case anyone thought i imagined Dale had just one rival for a place in the EFL [Post edited 11 Jan 18:31]
