Cullen signs on 18:36 - Oct 29 with 2139 views | Legend83 | I'll say this, as long as the new contract isn't insanely higher than his market worth, and the long term plan is for him to become a squad player and not leading the line, then in the same way I wasn't against keeping Routledge when past his beat, or resigning Joe, I am not against maintaining some Swansea "DNA".

Routledge is at a completely different level to Cullen. Different planet actually. "Swansea striker DNA" er um Jason Bowen he was pretty good. Got to the PL and was a real live-wire. Cullen is not a "live-wire". John Hartson was a beast but never played for Swnsea. The rest of the DNA is mediocrity written large.

I wasn't comparing players, I was merely pointing out that there may be an intangible benefit to retaining players who a) wear their heart on their sleeve and b) have some recall of what it was like being at the club when in the "good times". Absolutely do I wish I was saying this about a player of Routledge or Ashley Williams level but we are where we are and post Joe, Liam, and Cabango at a push any links to the "glorious past" are gone. But maybe revolution is what is needed and I'm just a sucker for sentiment!

Perhaps I am unfair but my heart sinks when I see Cullen on the team sheet. He is 25 and is not getting better.

Absolutely this. He’s a decent championship squad player. I agree with Resolven on this one, he’s probably about as good as he’s going to get. I’m glad we’ve kept him, but we need someone who’s either going to score a decent amount, or lead the line and create chances for the likes of Cullen. He can’t be our main man. It’s a little bit of positive news at least.

Cullen signs on 20:37 - Oct 29 with 1732 views | KeithHaynes | Thing is with cullen, he isn’t a goalscorer, despite what others profess. It’s a perfect contract for the Swans and him. Cheap and as we have stated on a league one wage. The perfect back up striker ? Possibly, but at a push.

I like him, and think there's something there we have not tapped into yet, slightly worried he hasn't like stated elsewhere improved, but my mate said the other day he was impressed by him in the Wales game................oh hang on my mates a cardiff fan! he may be leading me on.

Cullen signs on 23:01 - Oct 29 with 1460 views | swancity | He’s definitely got something about him. He looked the part when we were a Premier League club when playing for our Under 23s and his scoring record was good. I seem to recall he scored all four in our 4-0 win at Everton. He does need to be playing alongside someone ideally but modern football formations rarely will see two out and out strikers starting together. The next two or three seasons are crucial for him as he still has time on his side to improve with more experience. He started the season well with two in our first four or five games but it’s a difficult time for the Club and there’s a lot of pressure on him at present. Our worst ever record is six games without scoring and he is carrying that burden of responsibility. He’s still forced his way into the Wales set up so well done to him and best of luck.

Some of the comments on here are so disrespectful. Cullen is a local lad and always gives 100%. He gave a very good account of himself repsenting Wales 2 weeks ago and seems to be part of Bellamy's plans. His career is now at a crossroads. This new contract is a win win.
