Life sucks sometimes but the R’rs have always been the one consistent in my life. And yes I am so sorry for giving Andy Sinton so much abuse when he returned with Sheff Wed. I have apologised to him many times.

| Many happy returns? Preview on 20:50 - Dec 19 with 1569 views | joe90 | Good preview as ever. Regarding the Marti debate, I think much like the conversation about Nourry, there is little nuance or even room to question an accepted narrative - whether your on Twitter or a forum, people conform to their environment. I think the St Marti (miracles do happen) narrative is overstated. It doesn’t mean the football didnt improve (very low bar) or that I that I think he tired to shaft us. The 24/25 season was awful. We started by only wining 1 of the first 16 games. We also had the 6-2 against Leicester and another run of 7 games without a win. Despite that we finished 15th which is bang average for the last 10 seasons in the Champ. That’s also 1 point clearer of the drop compared to the previous season. The man barely moved the needle. There was something off about that entire season. Can’t put my finger on it, but there were bad vibes coming from the club and for whatever reason, I could never warm to Marti. There are plenty of people on here with superior football knowledge than me, who I’m sure can poke more holes in my post than a slice of Swiss cheese. | | | |
| Many happy returns? Preview on 21:03 - Dec 19 with 1538 views | MajorShotKneesHoop | Clive, this is one of your best previews ever. You cover all the fickleness and the fervour of football fans.- (Late Night Final - Alliteration United 4 - Wanderers 0)- with a surgeon's scalpel. You manage to write prose through an incredibly wide range - from Messrs Shakespeare and Dickens to Milligan and Cleese - and it still makes total sense. You can guess the number of times that I've asked myself`:- "Why do we bother, Fawlty?" after what I've witnessed happening in W12 since 1962. It's no bullshit to say that, on occasions, I'm still turning up at Loftus Road - expecting to be royally disappointed at what I witness - and after achieving that aim and I then go home afterwards, dribbling in anticipation oi your comments to be published on LFW. The only things that keeps me joined at the kneecaps to the club are your previews and your match reports. You must carry on doing this because it's a passion for you. Just like everyone else who is an R's supporter, you are blessed by St Jude, the patron saint of of lost causes. If you got paid for writing them , they wouldn't be as good - once you take the King's shilling, you have to bend the knee, so they'd lose their cutting edge. Constantly brilliant writing. We are so lucky to have you venting it all on our behalf. [Post edited 19 Dec 21:12]

| Many happy returns? Preview on 22:16 - Dec 19 with 1386 views | Myke | Thanks, Clive. Excellent preview. One of the fortunate ones to have a lot going on at Xmas, but have an elderly neighbour who will be completely alone. Bachelor farmer so used to being alone, but now in his early 90’s and unable to get around much anymore. Will be popping into him every day for a few minutes . He was a great friend of my father’s and great neighbour to us all. Can be a lonely time of year for sure. On Marti, I have no feelings for him one way or the other. He was neither messiah nor monster. Did a very good job of keeping us up after taking over from GA. Then screwed it up the following season. Got us out of the mire, then tried to undo all that work again. Ultimately he is no longer our manager, so by 5pm tomorrow will no longer be on my radar in any shape until we meet again. | | | |
| Many happy returns? Preview on 23:10 - Dec 19 with 1274 views | KensalT | Excellent as always. And I echo your sentiments about goodwill to all. Except that lot on Fulham Broadway. And the Mancs. And Liz Truss - did you have to go there!? On this: "It feels like these sorts of things have become fewer and further between since those days. We could probably do the whole preview on that – is it because the sport has become sanitised, more middle class, more family friendly? Is it because there’s a greater focus on mental health? Are we just tired of all the hatred elsewhere and can’t be bothered to bring it into our little Saturday sanctuary any more? Or have the right conditions simply not been met? Let Mick Beale get another Championship job, then we’ll see. That’s your acid test right there." You missed off - are the average matchday fans too old now and can't manage the necessary venom without a double dose of Sanatogen before the game? | | | |

I go to the games to enjoy it and forget about the real world for 90 odd minutes. Fingers crossed we get the 3 points and an early Christmas present.

Well said that man. Think it was towards the end last of the season a Danish (fan?) sat next to me. He had a Denmark scarf on and I didn’t give him any attention during the game I think I was in a mood and I spent much of the time slagging off Madsen to my mate how awful he was. It was t until the game had finished that I suddenly thought what if he had been family or friend of NM. I felt pretty bad unfounded as it was as I’m not really someone who slags people off (except David Speedie) So I won’t be slagging mc off as I can’t see the point also I’ve an infection in my root canal £2000 !!,! So hopefully rangers will not be adding to my agony
