Looking at York's only 2 away defeats this season both Boreham Wood and Gateshead scored 3. Also at Barnsley in the FA Cup who needed 3 goals to beat them. The last time they failed to score was at home to Solihull back in September 2025. The only other game they failed to score this season was at Southend 0-0 back in August 2025. Any thoughts of 1 or 2 goals and seeing the game out will end in tears.

Scarborough at home November 1987, drew 1-1. Been hooked ever since. Went palace and drove to Plymouth THAT last game of the season, 2 memorable games, both of which we lost. This will be up there with them, no doubt about that. Don’t recall looking forward to a game this much in those 38 and a half years, just pray this time it’s a win. Not the time for silly debates in my opinion.
Totally agree. And don’t think anything that’s happened prior to Saturday will make much of a difference.
It’ll be all about who turns up on the day and going off what we’ve seen since August we will be as well prepared as possible.
That Plymouth game is, I think, the last time we went into a final game with our destiny in our own hands (in terms of achieving something). At all other times we’ve been reliant on other games. That day there was little concern around us turning up and giving it a good go, even after a terrible run a couple of months earlier. We didn’t play that well but they gave their all and fell short. Let’s hope for a different outcome on Saturday.
Just seen a video of the Dale v York played on FIFA 2004 Dale win 1-0 Paul Connor with the lone goal who if any is the current squads most Paul Connoresque player? Oh and Neil Edwards was awarded man of the match.

If it doesn't happen on Saturday I hope and pray that I'm posting the apology after the the playoff final!

I don't know who exactly it is you think I am TS but I think you've got me confused with someone else cause none of that makes any sense to me. I certainly never fought Bottomley's corner for a start and you can go back through my posts and listen to 90+ podcasts worth of me asking people for their opinions and spouting my own nonsense ones to clarify that.
Two other people have also messaged asking who it is you think I am so I'm fairly sure you've got the wrong person here.

Your dedication to Dale from the wilds of Sussex is admirable but very few if any Daleys consider themselves wallflowers. Calls to unite ahead of Saturday are pointless - don't you know that's exactly what we'll be at kick off?
Some don't have the stomach for what's known as "mixing it" but that's what the players wearing Dale shirts might have to do to get us over the line against York. I'd advise not to ask fans not to do what you'd want players to do: get stuck in, give no quarter, put themselves on the line with honesty and no remorse

Would take that scenario right now and going off recent games it is something the players will be comfortable with.
Obviously would prefer it to be a game where we play much better and expose the weaknesses that have been discussed.
It's a Final, I reckon it's going to be cagey for 20 minutes or so. Dale or York won't want to concede early, playing it tactically. York will definitely pressure out of possession in Dale's half, trying to force a Dale cockup. It's worked for them in the past for them, and for other teams that have stifled our play. Lots of tension, I imagine strong tackles. I hope the ref doesn't be silly and spoil it and takes into account the magnitude of the occasion. No weird nonsense spoiling the occasion. We have enough passion and gile in this squad. Winners. Goals often come late. I fancy Dale to nick it.

Some of the greatest teams to have played the game of football have included individuals whose temperament and points of view were entirely at odds with each other
Two such examples: Andy Cole and Teddy Sheringham, Emlyn Hughes and Tommy Smith
It can lead to even higher performance levels, and should not be dismissed as a negative. Just needs a manager adept at bringing out the best in those circumstances

I agree. And good interview in contrast to some of the others. We have to remember this is all new to him too, which we can easily forget (me included).
And let’s have it right, if he pulls it off tomorrow he is going to go down in the history books as one of our greatest. Stepping in the ring at one of our lowest points. I can testify I am not his biggest fan over his tenure but at the same time have massive appreciation for what he has done. We’ve gone from Liam Kelly and James Ball, to Gilmour and East. Sam Graham to Kyron Gordon and so on. He’s brought in these players and they are loved. As a fan, they are everything you want and more.
All those who fought to keep this club alive deserve success tomorrow more than anyone. It’s been a rough ride. And some of the young lads in U block and around the stands have seen some of the lowest times. How nice it feels to be talking about the opportunity ahead instead of wondering how many houses will fit on the land our home is built on.
Get your singing voices on. Up the Dale!
