Stockport have announced their released list and also noted that loan players are returning to their parent clubs, including Corey Edwards. So no deal done yet, which doesn’t mean there won’t be but might depend what happens with the manager over there. |  |

Interesting signing.
Defensively Oldham were there last season, conceded only 44. They looked a bit light of goals scored however so this is logically a signing to work on that. | |

They had a good wingback in Caprice who always impressed me but who was injured for a fair bit last season so presumably Scott-Morris is a replacement for him.

This would only serve to confirm the thoughts of some around his suitability to not only be successful as a manager at Dale if given time and support, but a target for other clubs as progressive as we are. Stockports ambitions are to reach the Championship, i'd be surprised at this stage if McNulty is on their radar. I actually think if you're Jim then the timing to accept a move to a bigger club IS right, if that's what he's thinking. His reputation and profile is very high at the moment but all that could change in six months time. I would guess our playing budget will be lower mid table next season and there's a chance we could struggle from the start. When that happens then managers come under pressure, the priority is always the club and results, managers and players become disposable because slipping back into the National League affects the whole infrastructure of the club.
The Club also has to match the ambitions of the manager and to do that they have to provide a competitive budget. I think the budget will be the key because as was stated on this forum when he was linked with Burton, the manager has his own ambitions and his family to think about, that still applies now. McNulty's returned us to the EFL, he owes us nothing in respect of loyalty. The clubs ambitions are to be self sustainable in the EFL, young ambitious managers will want more than that and will see us as a stepping stone to bigger things and i think that's where we are now with McNulty. I'm not even sure being self sustainable as a competitive EFL club is possible but that's for another discussion. [Post edited 31 May 8:00]

How long left on JM's contract? Is it just one year? Would be interesting to see if the club are looking to renew/extend it, whether they're waiting till maybe Xmas, or if there's already been talks which have proven inconclusive
It'll all be kept under wraps of course but the reality of winning games (or not) will return soon enough
