yoksher scored more tonight in a T20 game than either England or New Zealand scored in the first innings of a test match!
Also, Lancashire were woeful tonight. There has been much discontent in the fanbase about the way the cricket side of LCCC has / is being run in recent years. Bottom of the T20 table, mediocre mid table in League 2. Not good.
Hopefully England should get a test win on a strange wicket tomorrow. |  |

They host 3 tests this year (2M, 1F) and 3 group matches, plus final of the Women’s WC.
Surrey turnover was 60m last year. Warwickshire second 36m, Lancs 3rd 34m.

Pace bowling is biomechanically alien to the human body and causes great stress on the back, knees and shoulders. Most people are not cut out for it and even most professional seamers have at least one serious back injury in their career. Moore and Turner, two young English pace bowler are both out for the season with stress fractures of the back.
There is much conjecture that bowlers do not get their 'sea legs' and they do too much gym work and not enough actual bowling. Anyone with a slightly awkard action gets it coached out of them. Bumrah would not have made it if he was English.
Steve Kirby is very vocal on the subject, although he does offer bespoke training programs so might be slightly fishing for custom, but he does make similar points as those alluded to above. [Post edited 7 Jun 20:55]

This was first put forward (not quite as technically) by the late and great Fred Trueman
He bowled hundreds of overs for Yorkshire and said that's all it takes to build up the resilience required. Central contracts put an end to that, but even before then fast bowlers had stopped putting in the hard yards, plus the county game is far too stop/start

Looks like Stokes has been a naughty boy again
What's emerging is that Gus Atkinson got into an altercation with a young Saracens rugby union wannabe and Stokes was caught up in it, probably defending his team-mate
Thing is, the England squad had agreed to a midnight curfew to stop the publicity around drinking whilst on tour Down Under. Stokes, as captain, had stopped drinking altogether but after the victory against NZ made noises about celebrating with a drink with the lads
It's difficult for anyone not involved at that level of top class sport, and the intense scrutiny that comes with it, to appreciate how this can happen
I hope he comes through this with his captaincy intact, because the alternative is Harry Brooks, a brilliant batsman and vice-captain but with his own drinking incidents (getting punched by a nightclub bouncer) to reckon with [Post edited 9 Jun 19:20]

What a shambles !!
Hard to understand Stokes actions. Either he is just a stupid man, or he has an underlying alcohol problem that is being underplayed and where he needs support from experts. Hopefully it can be resolved before the next series against Pakistan with Root only needing to captain 2 tests.
Like you say, interesting decision on Brook. I don't think he is red ball captain material & perhaps they are thinking he is just a Stokes v 2 when it comes to off field controversy. Who do you reckon should be the next full time captain? Tough call I think |  | | |
